METHODOLGY FOR FIXING BALCONY HANDRAIL

1. Fabrication to be done as per drawing no MWC-PH2/A/CD/4026.

2. Surface preparation including necessary chipping of dead mortar, cleaning to
be done.
3. Top Rail of the Horizontal members should be fixed with brick wall with the
pocket opening of size 150*150*150mm and fixed with M25 grade concrete.
4. Handrail vertical (50*50mm) post bottom should be welded 25*6mm MS
flat and both sides to be ensured by anchoring 75mm long from vertical post
face.
5. Fabricated hand rail grill should be placed in its position as per drawing no.
MWC-PH2/A/CD/4026 and anchored in kerb wall.[Annexure 1*]
6. Top rail fixing in column areas , should be ensured by anchoring in the
column surface.[Annexure 1*]
7. If any displacement of railing occurs in slab edges, the same has to be
extended along with mother slab .[Annexure 2*]
8. Handrail grills to be fixed with up stand kerb (150mm high) with M25 grade
concrete.
9. Verticality (plumb) Level and elevation line should be checked .
10.Inspection and necessary corrections to be done before pouring of
concrete.
11.After ensuring all above needs, the same has to be finished and the checklist
has to be signed off.

*Annexure 1- The anchoring will be of the approved make HILTI.

*Annexure 2- The extension of mother slab can be done by chipping the slab edges.The
bonding chemical Nito Bond has to be applied.The extra reinforcement which is to be
extended should be welded with the prior reinforcement of slab,and concreting will be
done with proper shuttering.The extension will be vary from from 50mm to
100mm,depending upon the need.
