Course Description

This course is basically designed to provide students the basic understanding of key HRM

functions, which include HR planning, recruitment & selection, compensation, performance

evaluation, and training & development.

Course Objectives:

The main objective of this course is to provide students with the required skills for effective

and efficient management of Human resources. The course covers the practical aspects of

working with and through other people.

Learning Outcomes:

After the successful complication of this course, students will able to:

• Know the importance of human resource for an organization and its effective management.

• Signify the importance and procedure for hiring right person for the right job.

• manage careers effectively.

• measure and manage performance.

• Establish motivational environment.

Recommended Books/Material:

 Text Book: Human Resource Management, by Gary Dessler Latest Edition

 Course Material: Additional Materials will be suggested and will be distributed as

course progress. These will include research articles, excerpts from longer works and

short articles from the Popular and business press.

Course Requirements:

 Full attendance and participate in class.


 Read required materials, i.e.: Periodicals, weekly chapter assignments, handouts, etc.
 Turn in all homework on time, i.e.: Printed copy in class.
 Take scheduled exams and quizzes during the semester.
 Read assigned book and submit book review.
 Periodically homework and extra credit assignments may be assigned.

Evaluation Procedures and Guidelines for Course Requirements

Grades Exams (2) = 30% of grade


Assignments = 40%
Quizzes = 20%
Attendance & Participation = 10%
TOTAL = 100%

Exams
Two exams will be administered. The Exams will cover material included in the textbook as
well as material covered in the lectures, readings, and handouts.
