ACTIVITY 1.1 SELF-REFLECTION

1. What are your values in life? (list down three, and why you value these).

Top 3 important values in my life:

a. Self-respect/love – I value this because I am a firm believer that the actions that we show towards other
people reflect the attitudes, character, emotions that we feel within ourselves. Prioritizing oneself doesn’t
make one a narcissist for doing so. If we respected ourselves enough, we would never let anyone allow us
to belittle or underestimate our capabilities again.
b. Family – I value my family simply because they are the reason why I keep ongoing. My parents are my
savior and my siblings are my best friend. Sometimes, when life hits hard, they are the ones who are
willing to support and stay right beside me. I could not see myself enjoying life without my family.
c. Wisdom – For a person to live life to its fullest is to learn more about it. There are no limitations in human
knowledge or capacity. People always learn day by day. I value wisdom because it depicts the decisions
that we make, may it be from our own experiences or the knowledge brought by the academy.

2. List down at least three characteristics in people and situations that you like and dislike. Analyze, reflect and
explain why these are the things you are drawn to or feel irritated by.

Dislike:
a. Self-centered – I tend to get irritated when one thinks that the world is created only for him or herself. Self-
centered people are nothing but narcissists who think that they are predominant more than others. This
kind of person tends to be careless, uncompassionate and entitled.
b. Arrogant – These are the ones who think as if they are far superior to other people. They are unpleasantly
proud of themselves.
c. Show-off – As an introvert, I personally value privacy, simplicity, and self-respect. I get irritated by people
who randomly show off stuff that they own with the intention to make someone jealous.

Like:
d. Compassionate – I admire those who show sympathy and concern for others. They care and think about
other people’s feelings.
e. Thoughtful – these are once in a lifetime kind of people because not everyone has the time to think about
your or other else's businesses.
f. Clever – I find intellectual people fun to be with. They know what and what not to do when dealing with
others because they seem to understand their needs and capacities.

3. What are your skills and capabilies; specify activities and tasks you find easy doing (may be related to your
profession, or interest).

Technical skills:
a. I am good at doing computer works such as working in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
b. I am good at analytical and problem-solving questions.
c. I am knowledgeable in drafting.

Recreational skills:
a. I love painting and drawing especially landscapes and portraits.
b. I am interested in writing.
c. I love reading books especially those from Mitch Albom.
d. I find it easy to finish a Netflix series within a day.

4. Tough question: HONESTLY TRULY look into yourself, and list down five things what you like about
yourself, and five things you find a bit off with yourself (alternate description: things about yourself you can
improve on)

Things that I like about myself:

a. Probably, being an on-the-go friend. I love listening and giving advice to people when they need one. The
thought of helping others and be someone’s companionship makes my heart warm because I know for a
fact that they trust me enough for doing such an act.
b. Open-minded. I feel like I can see the perspective from another person’s point of view even though I
disagree with it. Also, I have the willingness to try and learn new things, as well as consider them as a
great experience in my life.
c. Easy-going. I may be an introvert but I never secluded myself from hanging out with my friends and
growing my relationship with other people. I just go with the flow. I love enjoying what life has for me.

Things that I want to improve:

d. Shyness. Sometimes I kind of missed an opportunity because of this characteristic. When I have the
opportunity to meet somebody, I tend to be shy because I’m afraid that I might give a bad impression.
e. My focus. I get distracted easily, particularly when it comes to studying. I want to improve my self-
discipline the most so that I can manage and finish tasks quickly.
f. Self-care/acceptance. When we are too affectionate and understanding to other people, sometimes we tend
to forget our value, our worth. I easily get lost in the idea of self-love because of how I degrade myself as a
human being. I want to improve how I see myself as a person with purpose.
