CHAPTER 5

SOCIO-ECONOMIC STUDY
This chapter presents the effects of the project on regional, national, and
global as a whole. This portion of the study serves as a guide in determining the
societal, economic and environmental contribution the entity is seeking.

Aside from the importance of business to the passengers from the mission of
business to provide efficient, effective, convenient, comfortable, safe, and reliable
travel services, Angkas All-Day also has the following contribution:

A. TO THE PHILIPPINE ECONOMY

All venture plays a significant part in the development of the economy. The
expanding status of the business is linked in the development of the economy. The
planned business provides economically viability and opportunities for people who
are employed. The proposed business “Angkas All-Day” will be expected to help
reduce the rate of unemployment, provide an additional source of income and give
opportunity to improve the quality of life of the people. It will augment income;
provide occupation and will help improve standard of living to satisfy people’s wants
and needs.

B. TO THE GOVERNMENT

In this study, many individual will be given opportunity to have a job that will
sustain their life. Employees, together with their families are the ones will directly
benefit from this project. As employment increases, government’s income also
increases by payment of taxes. The government cannot survive without means to
pay its necessary expenses. Therefore, it is necessary that every citizen must pay
his taxes to support the government in order that he may continuously be sustained
with security and benefits of an organized society. With the revenues, the
government collects taxes, duties and licenses including income taxes of the owners
and workers. The proposed business will help the government to allocate the
disbursement of these revenues for the development and modernization of the
community and also to different social and infrastructure projects in the community.

C. TO THE SOCIETY

Without this kind of transportation system, the local industry will be affected
as well as the whole society. The proposed business is expected to contribute to
the attainment of common goals of many individuals in the said area. By giving
safe travels and transportation to local residents, generating employment, and
also generating income of employees of the proposed business directly benefits
persons and families in the society as a whole.

D. TO THE MUNICIPALITY OF DAET

The business will truly enhance to the progress of the Municipality. People
of the town will experience a new set-up of transportation system, where
passengers can book via online or text using their phones that results to better
accessibility and mobility of the Daeteno passengers in an affordable value. The
new kind of business will also promotes the tourism of the town, because
tricycles are part of the culture of the Filipinos especially in local municipalities of
the Philippines. The proposed venture will be registered in different sectors both
public and private like Land Transportation Office (LTO), Tricycles Regulatory
Unit (TRU), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other areas that
will require the business to register a mobile and location based tricycle service
type of business in the form of partnership. The taxes, license fees, permit fees
to be paid by the business will accrue to the fund of our local government. It will
also decrease the unemployment rate and standard of each worker will be raised
through the establishment of the venture.

D. TO EMPLOYEES

The proposed business will give employments. Family income will

increase additional demand for the services will be used to generate other
employment opportunities. Therefore, they will also be treated properly and fairly
and their demand for more protection, security, just wage and benefits will be
 asserted. For it is true that keeping the staff well-trained, highly motivated and
interested in improving the business will eventually result to satisfaction which
comes naturally, not by accident but by design.

E. TO THE ENVIRONMENT
By moving passengers more efficiently, public transit to motorcycle
produces significantly less air pollution per passenger than a standard vehicle
carrying a single driver with contributing large space in the road. Buses emit 20%
less carbon monoxide, 10% as much hydrocarbons, and 75% as much
hydrocarbons, and 75% as much nitrogen oxides per passenger than an
automobile with a single occupant.
The facilitation of a clean environment and effective environment protection is
a fundamental aspect of good business operation. The proposed business will
also help the environment through adopting proper waste sanitation and
segregation obtained from operation of the business.

F. TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION

Traffic congestion is a condition on a transport that as use increases and

characterized by slower speeds, longer trip times and increased vehicular
queueing. When traffic demand is great enough that the interaction between
vehicles slows the speed of the traffic stream, this results in some congestion.
While congestion is a possibility for any mode of transportation.
Motorcycles are part of the essential mode of transportation in the
country, Philippines. In Municipality of Daet, the number one (1) major local
public form of transportation is Tricycle and it is over 2,500 units of
franchised/registered public transport tricycles within the Municipality. While the
private motorcycles in the municipality has 3,169 units (current year 2019) as per
Management Information Report System (MIRS) of Land Transportation Office
(LTO). The difference between them is that motorcycles accommodate lesser
space in the road that results to lesser traffic, while in tricycles take up way too
much space in the road that may result to traffic congestion. If the motorcycles
would become a public transport vehicle, there’s a big contribution in the traffic
issues.
