India
has so far successfully supplied COVID-19 vaccine to more than 15 countries and
more nations are in the queue at different levels for the jab under India 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative, a
part of PM Modi's pledge to help other countries overcome the pandemic
India ensured supply of medicines to 123 partner countries despite its own
needs amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and has also been active in global efforts
to develop “diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines” to tackle the infection,
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said
Vardhan said, “Despite its own needs, during the Covid-19 pandemic, we
ensured supply of medicines to 123 partner countries, including 59 NAM
nations. India has also been active in global efforts to develop diagnostics,
therapeutics and vaccines for Covid-19 because we know and understand that
no one is safe until everyone is safe.”
India is exporting critical drugs like hydroxychloroquine, paracetamol as
well as azithromycin to over 20 countries to aid the fight against the Covid-
19 pandemic
From the US in the west to Bangladesh in the east, these drugs are being
exported to more than 20 countries in two categories – commercial and
humanitarian aid, said sources.
According to sources, India will be exporting these drugs to US, Brazil,
Spain, Germany, Bahrain, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives,
Bangladesh, Seychelles, Mauritius, Dominican Republic, Israel, Canada,
UK, France, Australia, New Zealand and some other African countries,
including South Africa.
