What is the real impact of social media?

Social media is one of the main topics of discussion these days. Some people think it harms
a person, distracts him, and makes him addicted, while others see social media as a way of
simplified and improved communication, as well as entertainment in their free time. Social
media allows many people to express themselves, show their feelings, and develop, both in
communication and in everyday skills. So what is the impact of social media?
Thanks to social media, today we can send a message to a person anywhere in the world
with just one click of a button on your computer, and that's not all. Social media allows you
to call a person, watch his photos, learn a lot about him just by scrolling the page. We can
not only find out information about any place in the world by browsing Wikipedia or travel
sites, but also visit it at the most affordable price, which was planned by people from social
media with vast travel experience. Social media is very prevalent in the modern world, social
media is considered one of the greatest achievements of humanity. People are connected
like never before and almost everyone has a social media account. People who lived many
years ago would consider social media as magic, because they never had the opportunity to
communicate with people thousands of kilometers away. However, social media has its
drawbacks, and there are many of them. Firstly, it is distracting. It happens when you try to
tell your friend something, and he is constantly looking at the screen of his mobile phone,
ignoring everything that you are trying to convey to him. Secondly, social media is addictive,
which is very difficult to get rid of. When you are sitting on your phone or computer, you don't
even know how much time you spent on it, and then, only after hearing the signal of a
message from your mobile phone, you immediately want to check it, this is called addiction.
Thirdly, it causes laziness. When you are addicted to your cell phone, every morning, instead
of eating, exercising, spending time with your parents, you check your social media feed,
which takes a huge amount of time.
In conclusion, I believe that social media is a discovery, which has provided great
convenience in communication and finding information. I believe that to avoid all of these
disadvantages, you just need to spend less time on social media, and instead do, for
example, sports.
