ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROJECT

INTRODUCTION
I am presenting a project assignment which includes
one essay about how students can overcome their
shyness and display their hidden talents. We are asked
to put forth our views in organizing a competition that
would overcome this problem and how we would
prepare to make the event a success.
Though I have tried my best to keep the report free
from errors, I apologize if any error is found which was
not deliberately done.
Every attempt has been made in this project to make it
purposeful and interesting. The language of the project
is simple and all the relevant information has been
incorporated to improve the explanatory value of this
project.
1 . ORGANISING A COMPETITION THAT
WOULD OVERCOME SHYNESS AMONG
STUDENTS.
According to the dictionary meaning, a person is said to be
shy when he is disposed to avoid any person or a thing. A
shy person is easily frightened, is hesitant in committing
himself, and is marked by sensitive diffidence.This is very
much present in student's life too. He is out of place,
always and everywhere. With a view to encouraging
students to shed their
shyness and display their
hidden talents, I am putting
forward my views to
organize a competition to
overcome this problem.

Children with a love for

performing and a dream to
showcase their talents to
the community are being encouraged to enter the stage.
But what about those who have talent but could not show
due to stage fear , social fear, etc. It's important for us to
bring those talented students onto the stage so that they
have a bright future ahead. We cannot put every student
in the same field of competition as they are not fit for that.
So I will organize a competition that will feature many
fields like dance, painting, debate, sports, etc. To make
the students more familiar with interaction with each other,
the big competition will be held in various stages like
school level, inter school level etc. It would be compulsory
for each student to participate at least in one field of the
competition.

Students can choose any

field of their own so that they
can freely express their
talents without any additional
pressure. Students doing
well in the school level will
be promoted to the next
stage and their skills should be
closely monitored to better
them. Students not doing fairly well at the school level should
not be neglected but given enough chances at the school
level itself so that they can overcome their fear, shyness , etc.
Besides, these students who are shying away should be given
motivational speeches and two or three coaches should be
monitoring them to overcome this problem.

These competitions should be conducted once in a fortnight

or a month so that shy students could not feel that their work
is being done after performing once. They will get used to the
situations and facing people. This competition should have
the motto of encouraging students to overcome social and
stage fear and show their hidden talents. Moreover, students
performing well should be rewarded with some or the other
prize. Even students showing slight growth in their skills
should not go unrewarded so that they will be at ease

Though, it might happen that at the first go many students will

find excuses and miss their chance but they will slowly see
the growth in others and
they will definitely
participate in any one of
the competitions. There is
a famous saying by
Francois de La
Rochefoucald that "All
women are flirts but some
are restrained by
shyness, and others by
sense." This is applicable
in each and every
individual. I can
guarantee that the
aforesaid method of overcoming shyness would bear fruitful
results very soon.
CONCLUSION
Here I have come to the end of the project. I have tried
my best to include all the necessary points that were
required. Some of the information which I wrote in the
project were taken from internet sources and I have
referred to my text book. It was a wonderful and
learning experience for me while working on this
project.
Completing the project helped me know more about the
practical life of students and how they hesitate to
display their hidden talents just because of stage and
social fear.
It helped me to develop additional skills integral to my
future such as critical thinking and time management. It
also encouraged me to take initiative and
responsibilities for completing a task.
I enjoyed each and every bit of work I have put into this
project.

In the accomplishment of this project successfully,

many people have owed to me their blessings and
heart pledged support. This time I am utilizing to
thank all the people who have been concerned with

Primarily I would thank God for being able to
complete this project with success. Then I would like
to thank my English language teacher Mrs. Mahua
Dutt whose valuable guidance has been the ones
that helped me patch this project and make it full
proof success.
