General Instructions
(i) All questions are compulsory.
(ii) This question paper consists of of 30 questions divided into four sections A, B, C, and D.
(iii) Section A comprises of 6 questions of 1 mark each. Section B comprises of 6 questions of 2 marks each.
Section C comprises of 10 questions of 3 marks each and Section D comprises of 8 questions of
4 marks each.
Section E contains 5 questions of 4 marks each.
(iv) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in four questions of
3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. You have to attempt only one of the alternatives in
all such questions.
(v) Use of calculators is not permitted.

Section-A

1. In fig. E is any point on median AD of a ABC . Show that ar(ABE) = ar(ACE).

2. Find the probability of obtaining 53 fridays in a leap year.


3. Find the area of an isosceles right-angled triangle with hypotenuse 7 2 m .
4. Find the remainder when 2x4 + 6x3 + 2x2 – x + 2 is divided by x + 2.
5. Find the radius and height of a cone in which volume is 4312 cm3 and r : h = 2 : 3.
6. If a wooden box of dimensions 8m  7 m  6 m is to carry boxes of dimensions
8 cm  7 cm  6 cm, then find the maximum number of boxes that can be carried in the
wooden box.
Section-B

7. Find the values of a and b so that the polynomial x3 – ax2 – 13x + b has x – 1 and
x + 3 as factors.
8. If one card is drawn from a well shuffled pack of 52 cards, then what is the probability of
getting either a red 6 or a red 8?
9. The volume of a sphere is 38808 cm3. Find its radius
10. In the Fig. ACP  400 , and BPD  1200. Find CBD.

11. Determine the volume of a conical vessel having radius of the base as 5 cm and its slant
height as 13 cm. (use  = 3.14)
12. Find p(0), p(1) and p(2) for each of the polynomial p(x) = 4x2 + x – 5

Section-C

13. So that the sum of the angles in the four segments exterior to a cyclic quadrilateral is equal to 6 right
angles.
14. An unbiased dice is thrown. What is the probability of getting:
(i) an even number
(ii) a multiple of 3
(iii) an even number or a multiple of 3
(iv) an even number and a multiple of 3
(v) a number 3 or 4
(vi) an odd number
15. If the perimeter of a triangle is 300 cm and its sides are in the ratio 5 : 12 : 13, find area of the triangle.

16. The side AB of a parallelogram ABCD is produced


to any point P. A line through A and parallel to

21. Find the area of a triangle whose perimeter is 180 cm and two of its sides are 80 cm and
18 cm. Also calculate the altitude of the triangle corresponding to the shortest side.

22. A rectangular sheet of metal foil with dimension 66 cm by 12 cm is rolled to form a


cylinder of height 12 cm. Find the volume of the cylinder.

Section-D

23. The Fig. shows a pentagon ABCDE, EG, drawn parallel to DA, meets BA produced at G,
and CF, drawn parallel to DB, meets AB produced at F.

Show that ar (pentagon ABCDE) = ar (DGF).

24. If a + b = 10 and ab = 21, find the value of a3 + b3.

25. In Fig. ABC is an isosceles triangles in which AB = AC. Side BA is produced to D such
that AD = AB. Show that BCD is a right angle.

26. ABCD is a trapezium in which AB || CD and AD = BC (see. Fig.). Show that:

27. ABCD is a parallelogram X and Y are the mid-points of BC and CD respectively. Prove

28. Shivansh has a gift placed in a cuboidal box of dimensions 80 cm, 40 cm and 20 cm. He
wants to cover the box nicely to present it to his birthday. Instead of using coloured
paper, he decided to use squared papers of old magazines of side 40 cm each.
(i) How many square sheets of magazine paper are required?
(ii) What value is depicted from this act?
