History of Cauterization

Pre-history: ??

cauterization
appears in arabic
texts

Not just on the ear

Auricular

History of Cauterization
1850: French Medical Journal
reported 13 cases of Sciatica
treated with hot iron
cauterization of the ear; 12
successful.

1950: Paul Nogier intrigued by

cauterization scars in patients’
ears

Found they were from Mme.

Barrin, who learned from her
father, who learned from a
Chinese national.

Oh Yes, he did…
Bloodletting, cauterization and scaring is not a part of
auriculotherapy—unless used as part of a global
comprehensive system.

• Ralph Nogier’s Dad…
• 1908-1996
• French Neurologist
• Father of
Auriculotherapy

You may not know…

French System: Paul Nogier created the first mapping
of the ear. (French)

German System: Frank Bahr and Beate Stritmatter

discovered the frequency system and lasers to treat
conditions.

Chinese System: Because of Paul Nogier, the Chinese

system was developed. The Chinese did not invent ear
acupuncture.

Side N

Chinese didn’t use the ear in

traditional acupuncture.

They took interest in his work.

Used his map to create a

foundation.

bundled with acupuncture
because of barefoot doctors.

After the Spine Map…

VAS (Auricular Carciac Reflex)

Touch a point on the ear, the

pulse changes.

Organs have electrical properties.

Introduce the electrical property

to the ear—the pulse responds.
Auricular
Vials with organ tissue. Pearls

Put vial in contact with the ear, and find the

point where the pulse responds.

The map gets bigger and BIGGER….

Before the Seminar Auricular
Pearls

STEP 1:
Open Auriculo 3D

Step 2:
Scan for active points

Step 3:
Treat active points

Step 4:
Put ear seeds on the points you
treated.

Step 5:
Have patient press points at
home.

AFTER the Seminar Pearls

Root Treatment
Neurovascular Points
(aka Skin Resistance Points)
• Not the same as painful points
• Electrically detectable
• You will find VAS with
these
• Tells you dysfunction in the
organ or system
• ALWAYS do these BEFORE
pain points
• Do these if there is NO pain.
• Have an effect on immunity
(delayed 2-3 days)
• Depression, anxiety,
constipation, etc.
Auricular
Pearls

No Active Points?
If you cannot find electrically
active points…

Treat Point Zero FIRST

Then treat Shen Men

Then scan again

Points will magically appear

Auricular
Pearls

Branch Treatment
Reflex Points (aka Painful
Points)
• You cannot find VAS with
these
• Use Stimplus Pro (or
pressure probe) to find
painful points
• Treat them Stimplus Pro
(or needles)
• Place seeds to prolong
treatment

*Ralph Nogier uses ASP needles.

Toxic Scars/Dental Foci

Auricular
Pearls

Exhaustion Phenomenon
Start with white light test. There should be a VAS
response *every* time

If there is VAS exhaustion, this is a sign of a toxic scar or

dental focus

Exhaustion means the VAS phenomenon starts to

weaken after the 4th flash
Auricular
Pearls

Dental Focus
Dental or peri-dental pathology

Painful or not

Visible or not

Old or new

Affects an organ
Auricular

Dental Focus
Fatigue****

Hypotension, instability

Pain (shoulder, tendonitis, pubalgia)

Scars
Edges of ear

Right ear for anterior, left for posterior

Respond to black (no light)

If you find an active one, treat with needle (ASP)
