How do you think we decide which parts of our identity are most important?

Or is this
decided for us?

My thought on the matter is that the most important part of our identity is determined by both
us and others. We come into the world and make several connections, so the truth is not everyone
surrounded by us view us as the way we do. it is my belief that we would not act the same around
different people, different places or different communities. it seems to me that it is not the big choices
that make up who and what we are. It is the little things that make up the foundation of our identity.
Life is very long, sometimes the way you express, your actions and your decisions do not show your
real identity, but for others, that is who you really are. This suggests that it depends on the social
world around you who decide your significant identity part. On other hand, it is us who make the
choice, act, and interact with people, meaning that, we are the ones that have the power to show
people our different aspects. For instance, if you are not good at English, the students who are in your
English class do not necessary view you as a bad student, you could ask for help and try your best
rather than sleeping in class. In that case, they probably will see you as a hard-working student. Like I
have mentioned above, the personality traits are difficult to control when you are out of your comfort
zone or being put into unexpected situations, but I believe it is possible to become the best version of
yourself and let others see that. It is you who choose what to reveal and what you should keep to
yourself. Also, we can now explore many different aspects of identity, self, and experience thanks to
advances in technology and social change. I can enter discussions on the Internet and present myself
as whatever and whoever I want to be. I can find others who express some hidden aspect of my
identity, and I can choose to make that feature more prominent and central in my presentation and
experience of self. All things considered, we do not make a decision about the important part of our
identifications, but we are the reasons people views us the way they do.
