Question 1:
Discuss the importance of self-understanding? Explain the numerous aspects of your life in light of
Johari Window?

Marks (7)
Answer:
Self-understanding can be defined as to recognizes ourselves our personality our good habits
bad habits our qualities and everything about us related to us must be known to us this is actually self-
understanding.
Understanding oneself is like the understanding of one’s own capabilities, character, feelings and
motivations.
Self-understanding is actually the ability to see own self objectively and clearly through other vision
and introspection.
It is not possible to attain/ recognize all the attributes and objectives ours but to some extent, we can
know to own ourselves.
Importance:
It is very important to know about our own-self because it will help in our future life and also make
our life easy and useful.
“It will build us heaps of proactive, boost our acceptance, and encourage positive self-
development (Sutton, 2016).”
If we know own self then it will be easy for us to understand everything that we face and every
situation we face how to react and how to deal with that situation.
This will help to understand the relation with others and how to deal with them.
Self-understanding helps us to improve ourselves it set a self-improvement program that we think
about ourselves and work for the betterment of our own self.
“Self-awareness permits us to ascertain things from the angle of others, apply self-
control, work creatively and fruitfully, and data pride in ourselves and our work still as
general shallowness” (Silvia & O’Brien, 2004).
Self-understanding also provides us with the knowledge that how others think about us and what is
our image in other's vision.
This information helps us to improve ourselves and we come to know our strength and our
weaknesses so, we can focus on our weaknesses and those can be converted I to strengths.
This will help in leading a meaningful life and career-focused life, it will mention our career goals.
This will make us focused on the goals and it gives us motivation and confidence to achieve those all
goals and targets.
“It will build us higher at our jobs, higher communicators at intervals the geographical
point, and enhance our confidence and job-related welfare” (Sutton, Williams, &
Allinson, 2015).
According to these lines, it will satisfy us to achieve high goals and maintain highness of our career it
will help to communicate with the higher personalities and communicators, it will help in increase of
our confidence
It will help in making good relations with others and also helps to understand the diversity of people
that everyone is changed from other in a way to thinking and behaviour, everyone is different in
contrast to his objectives that if you are good in some objectives then the other may weak in that.
This understanding will help to manage with others means how to communicate with others and how
to behave with others looking on their personality types.
It will increase your productivity and make you more efficient in your work make you concentrate on
your job.
Johari Window:

The Johari window helps us to describe our personality and our objectives those we know we
don’t know even what others know and what others don’t know.
There are four areas of this windows due to it was given the name of window they are listed
below:
Open area.
In this area, we are familiar with ourselves and others also know those qualities that we know.
In this area objectives like confidence, shyness, happiness, sad, friendly, rude, supportive, energetic,
helpful, and motivated are falling these all are known to us as well as to others. I know that I am
confident and all other know that I can deliver my voice to any channel any personality without any
fear.
Blind area.
In this area, we don’t about ourself but others know that that is our blind area for example I was not
interested in the investment in online stocks and marketing sites but I am good to predict that will
stock moves up or bottom so that my friends know that I was blind to this quality. In this area,
qualities fall like self-consciousness, clever knowledgeable, etc.
Hidden area.
In this area, we know about ourselves but others don’t know about us in this area qualities like which
movie I like the most which person I like the things fall which we keep in our heart. What I think for
my own self other don’t.
Unknown area.
In this area objective fall is unknown to us as well others. This is actually a situation-based area we
can be brave in some situations but also cowardly in other situations in this regard no one knows that
is I am brave or not. I remember that once I visited the bhoot Bangla in the zoo all of my family
members were frightened and thinking that these all are original and can harm us but I was calm and
know the reality so not much frightened.
Question 2:
In what ways are you similar to and different from your siblings? Define your personality in the light
of big five personality model?

Marks (7)
Answer:
These are the five models name with OCEANS.
I fall in the conscientiousness because I am well organized all my family members believe that any
work which I do will be fine and best they believe that I am reliable for them my personality is neat
and clean because I always talk in the favour od cleanliness and some time, I get angry with then and I
am only one who is ambitious because other are young and they say any profession will be suitable
for them.
These are my high characters but low character fall in Extraversion because everyone says and I feel
that I am reserved sometimes and feel comfortable to live alone and also wants to stay background in
some matter.
But my other siblings are fall in the openness and low character fall in the Agreeableness.
They all are same I think I am bit different from them.
They don’t over think but I think
They are not emotional intelligent but I am.
They are not enough able to communicate with parents they talk through me
They are bit different from each other but overall same but I am much different from them
There is too much gap between them and my parents but they live all the time with them but I
understand my parents no such gap between us.

Question 3:
Explain the role of emotions in our life. Some people prefer not to express their emotions in public.
Do you think suppressing the emotions is good for our interpersonal relations?

Marks (6)
Answer;
Emotions can be defined as “a complex reaction pattern, involving experiential, behavioral
and physiological elements.”
To understand other feelings and mood and taking care of those to react and behave is actually
emotions.
Role of emotion in our life:
Emotions are very important in our life if we did not focused on our and other emotions then
humanity may die and everyone may get hurt in this world and every time may other get hurt by him
so the world becomes so rude and boring full of sadness no happiness would be there in this world so
if we want that this world is to move with all his light we need to understand emotions and we must
be emotionally intelligent so that we may be able to understand the mod of other and can think of it
that what we have to say to other at this time or other time may be suitable for this discussion this will
help a lot.
Emotions rule on our daily life because we make decision based on our emotions that we are in anger,
happy, sad, frustrated or bored. If we are happy, we will give every thing that other wants from us and
in other mood if we are in sad, frustrated or sad mood then we may get angry with them or we may
take wrong decision after that when we come to normal state then we realize that we did wrong. For
example, once I was in tensed situation, I was solving my paper and one of my friends was talking on
call with his parents with his laughing I was getting disturb so I asked him to leave the room but he
didn’t focus and continued then I shouted on him he get hurtled but when I submitted my paper then I
realize that I did that wrong and I do sorry to him. So, it’s all depends upon our mood that what we
think and what we decide. What we read what we behave these all based on the mood and emotions.
If there is no understanding of emotion the life wouldn’t be so excited and fantastic and enjoyable.
Suppressing emotion:
I think suppressing emotion is not good because if we supress our emotion then they get the
extremeness and I think extreme of every thing is bad that may be the happiness, sadness or any other
feelings or emotion.
So, we must react and show our emotions what ever the consequences may that in the future or may
the relation in risk but the fact and goodness lie in this that we must be clear from heart which can be
only done when we expose our emotions.
Supressing emotions is very dangerous for the interpersonal relations because the relations are like the
thread which broke in a second with only single mistake and can be strength with a single good
decision. This suppressing of emotions is not good I heard from one of my elders that:
“Risto ko kamzoor krny sab sy zada qasoor war hum kudh hoty jo hamary andar ki
feelings ko bahir nii nikalty or dil ma rakh k un ka gubar bana lety haan or jb wo
extreme per ponch jatii han to phir rishty tootny sy koi nii bacha sckta”
So, I would suggest that we should express what ever that emotion might be of happiness or sadness
both are dangerous for interpersonal relations and own health.

Question 4:
I want you take few minutes to review the theories of happiness given by Aristotle, Socrates, Plato,
Epicurus, Aurelius, Zeno, Seneca and Epictetus. After studying these theories, has your understanding
about happiness and purpose of life changed? Share your thoughts about a meaningful life?

Marks (10)
Answer:
Aristotle:
Aristotle said that “It is about achievement and gaining in life”. That gaining ca be knowledge, health,
wealth etc
Socrates:
Socrates theory about the happiness is: “All about our desire”, he said happiness does not come from
external things it comes how the things are used and how do we interpret the things.
Plato:
According to Plato theory of happiness “Virtue based”. Plato said if you have high moral values and
excellence in morality then you can lead a happy life.
Epicurius:
In the Epicurius view the happiness is defined as “garden imagination”. he said think pleasure-based
imagination. He also believes that if we think about the god and death fear natural, we will be happy.
Aurelius:
Aurelius theory say that “Depends upon the quality of our thoughts”. He said it’s all depend on us that
how we reopened to others and own our reactions and response to everything
Zeno:
He said “Good flow of life”. According to him “logos and circumstances that are really power”.
Seneca:
In the perception of Seneca “Virtue based... not through pleasure”. He said there in not good or evil
but a good and evil mind.
Epictetus:
Accept what does happen to us and seek pleasure as much as possible. pleasure based.
My perception:
what I think before studying these theories that happiness is only that people happy from you and you
are happy from them and a man can be happy with the wealth and health. But now there is a little
changed in my mind we can’t say change but we can say addition that now I consider these all and
also that happiness is depend upon you intelligent can change every thing into happiness but with
support of God we ourselves can but to limited extend.
