Nick Woodman

The one gadget that changed the way people thought about filming. For the explorer in all of us,
GoPro cameras are a must-have. Who'd have guessed that a lack of adequate photographic equipment
to take high-quality action photographs would inspire Nick Woodman to create the ‘GoPro'?
Nick Woodman's adventure began with a stumbling block. His early days were difficult as he
struggled to acquire a fraction of his initial cash by selling bead and shell belts for less than $20.
On the other hand, he did not give up! He established GoPro in 2002 after years of struggle and a lot
of hard labour. Woodman spent two years after starting the firm developing his first camera before
unveiling the GoPro 35mm HERO in September 2004 at the Action Sports Retailer trade show in San
Diego. Nick would know nothing but success and wealth afterward, as GoPro sold $150000 worth of
products in its first year!
Woodman now owns around 30% of GoPro's shares (and 77 percent of the voting shares), and he was
valued at well over $3 billion in September 2014. The firm converts their flash into cash at a 15,000
sq.m complex in San Mateo, California, including offices, labs, workshops, and the GoPro Experience
centre, which employs over 1500 people. In 2019, GoPro made a $32 million profit after generating
$377 million in revenue.
Takeaway:
Your situation at the start of the journey of your dream, should not hold you back from achieving it.
At the end of the day, what matters is the will to not give up on your dream and the ability to
continuously work hard for your dream and fight your battles and you will definitely emerge
victorious!
