Calculation1:

OIL AC&R section considers that 10X10 sqft. area requires 1.0 Ton AC
Bunk house Length: 40 ft (as per meeting minute)
Breadth: 8 ft
Height: 10 ft.
Surface area: 40 X 8 i.e. 320 sqft. i.e. 3.2 Ton
We recommend 2 nos. 1.5 Ton ACs, to be fitted at the opposite sides (i.e. 8 ft sides)
Calculation2:
As per article at Economics time,
Surface area: 40 X 8 i.e. 320 sqft.
Divide by 600 to get the basic capacity , i.e. 0.533 Ton
Now add 0.5 ton for every 5 people occupying the room, i.e. 2 Ton for 20 person
Total recommended Tonnage: 2.533 Ton
We recommend 2 nos. 1.5 Ton ACs, to be fitted at the opposite sides (i.e. 8 ft sides)

Volume Method: Alternatively, multiply the length, breadth and height of a room (in
feet). Divide the answer by 1000. This is the tonnage required.

Volume: 40 X 8 X 10 i.e. 3200 cu ft

Total recommended Tonnage: 3200/1000 i.e. 3.2 Ton
We recommend 2 nos. 1.5 Ton ACs, to be fitted at the opposite sides (i.e. 8 ft sides)

Calculation4:
As a rule of thumb, an air conditioner needs 20 Btu for each square foot of living space.
But other considerations, such as the ceiling height and the size of your windows and
doorways, might call for more cooling power.
To measure your room, multiply the length by the width.
i.e. 320 sq. ft.
i.e. 6400 Btu requirement
#If more than two people regularly occupy the room, add 600 Btu for each additional person.
i.e. 18 X 600 (considering 20 persons occupying the room)
i.e. 10800 Btu
#If the room is very sunny, increase capacity by 10 percent.
Total recommended cooling capacity is: 10800 +6400 add 10%
i.e. 18900 Btu
i.e. 1.57 Ton

However, we recommend 2 nos. 1.5 Ton ACs, to be fitted at the opposite sides (i.e. 8 ft sides)
to increase the life cycle of ACs.
