Clinical Training Center

Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital, which commenced construction on April 22nd, 2015, was founded in May, 2020. The
Clinical Training Center is located on the north side of Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital and has 700 beds in its 5
stories under and 15 stories above ground level. The Clinical Training Center was founded to fulfill its function as an
education·research hospital after relocation of the medical graduate school of Kyungpook National University and to improve the
insufficient education, research, and treatment environment of the current Kyungpook National University Hospital. The founding of
this specialized medical center will provide a developmental model for university hospitals and is anticipated to provide the best
medical service through both collaborative and one-stop treatment.

Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital was founded in

January of 2011 and is operating 660 beds with 24 clinics.
Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital is composed of
a senior health care center that provides comprehensive
medical services for the increasing cancer and cognitive
disease populations, a state-scale Daegu·Kyungpook regional
Cancer Center for national cancer management, and the
Kyungpook National University Children’s Hospital that
specializes in pediatric treatment. We are making it our mission
to be more devoted to education and research.

Our advanced equipment reduces patient discomfort and risk. Great progress is also being made in the accuracy of
diagnosis and the success rate of treatment.
VERO
VERO, which is called 'the best radiation cancer treatment equipment in
existence', was introduced to Kyungpook National University Chilgok Hospital for
the first time in Asia. VERO is typically used in the treatment of head and neck
cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and spinal cancer.

Da Vinci XI (Da Vinci Surgical System)

It is a humanoid precision robot that enables a surgeon to manipulate a remote
robot to provide high-quality medical care as if doctor operate on a patient in a
general operating room. Therefore, the name of the device was taken from the
genius painter and scientist Da Vinci.

up to 10 times
▪Surgery can be performed even in hard-to-reach areas
▪A small device (5-8mm in diameter) attached to the robot's arm can rotate in all directions like a human wrist, thus providing the ability
to accurately perform the doctor's hand movements

Gamma Knife
A gamma knife is a radiosurgery device that enables bloodless radiation surgery
to be performed without a skull or scalp incision. It is widely used for brain
diseases that require more precise accuracy than other areas, especially brain
tumors and brain arteriovenous malformations. Kyungpook National University
Hospital has been operating the only Gamma Knife Center in Daegu and
Gyeongbuk since 2005. The Gamma Knife Perfexion model, newly introduced in
2016, is a device that focuses radiation from 192 sources to a single site,
minimizing the effect on normal brain tissue and maximizing the radiation dose
to the pathological tissues.

The hair Transplantation center of Kyungpook National University Hospital was established in
1996, the first in Korea. Using the hair follicle group transplantation method developed by
Professor Jeong-chul Kim and a KNU transplanter, 1,500-2,000 hairs can be transplanted per
hour, and the survival rate of the transplanted hair exceeds 92%, ensuring the best and most
natural results. The KNU Hair Transplantation Hospital network, consisting of doctors from this
center, provides the best medical treatment to many patients suffering from hair loss.
Kyungpook National University Hospital Hair Transplantation Center is opening new horizons in
male pattern baldness treatment through ceaseless research and development.

The world's first hair follicle group transplantation and surgical method development using a transplanter
TThe punch hair technique, developed in the United States in the 1950s, showed a very unnatural result as hairs grew out like
bristles. Professor Kim Jung-chul of Kyungpook National University Hospital developed the world's first hair follicle group
transplantation in 1992 in order to improve upon the unnatural results of such punch or mini transplantation. The hair follicle
group transplantation method transplants units of the follicle groups normally distributed on the scalp (the pattern where 1-3
hairs grow in one pore) grow in one pore, and allows the original hair distribution to be preserved, providing the best results. It is
the most ideal surgical method for Asians with thick, straight black hair.
Health Promotion Center
developed checkup program differentiated from other hospitals to operate a continuous
management system.

The Health Promotion Center is contributing to disease prevention, health maintenance, and promotion by introducing the new
concept of “Integrated and Customized Health Management” to the existing treatment-oriented medical system. In addition, we are
operating a continuous management system by developing a screening program distinct from other hospitals to ensure a healthier
