EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT

INTRODUCTION

So let's say you want to become rich, famous, and adored by a vast majority of the world. You've got
some options. You could write a great book. You could play the lead for an expensive movie. Or you could
become a rock star. While it's unlikely that you'll ever do any of those things and become rich and famous, but
each of those things on their own add an incredible amount of value to your own life personally. Today, I want
to tell you why everyone should learn to play an instrument if they want to better themselves.

BODY

I. Playing an instrument improves your physical body

Playing an instrument improves your physical control and well-being. Instruments require varying levels of
both stamina and physical prowess to play. If you've ever been to a concert and watched the drummer, you've
seen this in action -- by the end of the first two songs, most drummers are drenched in sweat. Researchers
from the University of Chichester found that touring drummers burn an average of 300 calories per hour, and
lose a quart of body fluids in that same timeframe. Drumming might be an extreme example, but playing any
instrument while standing strains your whole body.
Playing an instrument also improves your coordination. Drumming comes to mind as an extreme example of
coordinating four limbs to operate independently at once, but even the piano takes a high level of hand-eye
coordination to play well. Instruments train you to move smoothly, quickly, and precisely as you learn to keep
rhythm while playing the correct notes.

II. Playing an instrument improves your mind

As physical as instrumental hand-eye coordination is, it's also a mental exercise. Learning chords, rhythm
patterns, and reading music enhances your mind. Playing an instrument can increase your memory, improve
your organizational skills, and refine your math and reading abilities. As an example, let's say you're playing
the guitar and learning how to play Crazy Train. First, you have to decide how you want to learn the song -- do
you go from beginning to end, or do you break it up into parts and learn them in order of difficulty? Then you
have to memorize the individual parts and how to play them in order. You learn the chords by reading a chord
chart, and as you learn how long to hold the chords, you practice your math.

III. Playing an instrument improves your emotional state

Emotionally, playing an instrument also helps create a better version of you. You start by learning how to
play songs that mean something to you, which relieves tension, and eventually you can write your own songs
that give you emotional release. This can also create a healthy sense of achievement. Learning an instrument
in and of itself creates this achievement, for it takes talent and hard work to play well, but creating your own
music is another high bar to jump over. Leaping over it successfully creates a sincere and lasting sense of joy
and catharsis.

If you want to increase your social skills, you should pick up an instrument. Music is made alone, but is
most beautiful and enjoyable when done in conjunction with others. Creating music well boosts your
confidence, and doing so in a group setting creates bonds of friendship and self-worth.

CONCLUSION

Playing an instrument is highly beneficial to your body, mind, and soul. Every healthy person seeking to
better themselves should play an instrument to help them be the best person they can be. All that being said,
there's really no way to know whether picking up an instrument will lead you to becoming rich and famous. It
might not; after all, there are millions of musicians in the world. Then again, it might -- Taylor Swift, Ylvis, and
One Direction have demonstrated that for us. The only way to find out, of course, is to choose an instrument
to learn and then see where it goes from there.
Thank you for your attention.
WHY EVERYBODY NEEDS TO EAT HEALTHY

INTRODUCTION

In our society today, everybody feels the need to be productive and compete with the rest of the world by
being quick and efficient. We feel compelled to use each hour in a way that will benefit us that it often affects
our eating habits. Because fast foods and junk foods are available anywhere we go and don’t require long
minutes of waiting and preparation, we find it difficult to exclude it from our diet. Fast foods are also often
cheaper than many of the healthier foods.

So, why bother to eat healthy and add all the troubles of developing a healthy habit into our lives? Today, I
will give you three reasons to start eating healthier.

BODY

I. Eating healthy helps us fight and prevent diseases.

The University of Rochester Medical Center explained how eating the right kinds of foods in the right way
could help us prevent many types of diseases. For one, controlling our intake of carbohydrates, especially in
the form of sugar, could significantly cut our chances of developing diabetes type 2. Also, by choosing to
consume good fats instead of bad fats, we reduce our risk for heart diseases and stroke.

The American Institute for Cancer Research also says that a combination of vitamins, minerals, and
phytochemicals from fruits and vegetables can offer good protection from many types of cancer. We can also
help our bodies prevent the development of osteoporosis by eating calcium-rich foods and Vitamin-D fortified
foods such as skim milk, yogurt and broccoli. These are just a few examples of how our eating habits directly
affect our chances for developing diseases.

IV. Eating healthy lengthens our lives.

With a great and healthy body, free from diseases, our lives can be lengthened too. Dr. Robert Schreiber of
Harvard Medical School noted that although there are some people who live a long life of unhealthy choices,
there are countless others who die prematurely as a result of them.

The World Health Organization also named the Ischaemic heart disease, stroke, lower respiratory
infections and chronic obstructive lung disease as the top major killers during the past decade. Diabetes and
hypertension had also been included in the ten leading causes of death in the world from 2000 to 2012. These
diseases, murderous as they are can actually be controlled by eating right, combined with proper exercise.

V. Eating healthy improves our overall performance.

When we eat right, we give our body the energy it needs to perform well. According to Harvard Health
Publications, healthful eating helps us keeping the energy level high. Eating a balanced diet including
unrefined carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, we get the calories we need to boost energy while also supplying
proper nutrients to keep our metabolism going.

The opposite is true for eating refined carbs and fast foods. Energy bars and junk foods only give us a quick
boost, and very little or no vitamins and minerals. It makes us feel depleted and craving for more.

CONCLUSION

Getting the energy we need daily from healthy sources helps us maximize the benefits we get from food.
Eating right will also help us avoid all those extra calories we don’t need, eliminating layers of stored fat. When
we regulate our weight, we feel lighter and more energetic. Thus, when we eat right, we possess the kind of
energy that is pure and long-lasting. By preventing diseases, eating healthy also helps us live our lives longer.
Soon, we’ll realize how good food improves our mood and healthy eating habits make us more efficient and
generally happier with our lives.

CONCLUSION

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

INTRODUCTION
It may seem like a banal subject, however, it is not a simple subject, how can we teach or talk to
children about the line that exists between freedom of expression and being politically correct?
It can be confusing. Freedom of expression is one of the Human Rights that guarantees the
possibility of being able to express opinions and ideas without suffering reprisals, censorship
derived from what one has expressed. Obviously this does not imply that one can say
everything that comes to mind, since all rights go hand in hand with responsibilities and
obligations, so there are limitations that cannot be ignored, such as defamation, offending
directly, through speech, to a person.
BODY
1. POLITICALLY CORRECT VS FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
Although the politically correct today addresses the use of expressions that lead to avoid
friction, differences, confrontations between people or groups, it was not always like that. The
beginning of the idea that something said or done is "politically correct" dates back to the
1980s, and was born as a way to specifically protect minorities. For this reason, a person who
acts in a politically correct manner is one who takes into account the values of all human groups
and avoids any possible discrimination or offense towards them for reasons of sex, sexual
preferences, political ideology, religion, race, etc.
In this vein, it is worth reflecting on the lack of absolute definition that exists about what
defines “what is politically correct?”; however, it is useful to specify that the notion is deeply
associated with the context and moment in question. In this sense, what is politically correct
works as a system of correction, while uncovering layers of serious tolerance and making
problems of social structure visible in fact.
Regarding freedom of expression and how it deals with what is described as "politically
correct", we have a thin, but clear line: respect and the limits of that right. While this ensures
the right to seek, receive and disseminate one's own thought, this same right runs up against
clearly established limits related to private life, privacy, honor, and morals, among others.
2. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM OF BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT?

Political correctness has gotten out of hand. This has made the care, the tact and the effort not
to hurt or offend reach limits that are, to say the least, exaggerated. There is no one who
defines exactly what things are politically correct. They depend on a context and a particular
moment. It is not written and it is important that it remains that way because it makes you
believe that you are acting freely.
CONCLUSION
 Freedom of expression is never an absolute right, but an aspiration. It ceases to be a
right when it damages something that we all consider valuable.
 Censorship works to preserve freedom of expression, but puts it on an equal footing.
Those who support free expression without rules forget that not only the power of the
state can silence minorities, but also the social discredit promoted by racists, sexists,
homophones and other fanatics.
 freedom of expression does exist in a politically correct world, only in a very relative way
and very different from what it should be in theory.
