A. Preliminaries

Everybody please stand and let us pray.

Good morning class. Good morning sir.

Okay please be seated. Thank you sir.

Let me check your attendance. As I call your


name please raise your right hand and say
present. Yes sir.

B. Motivation

To start with our lesson, may I request you to


group yourselves into three groups.

Let's have a game entitled "Can you lose me? and


Pop me!". What you will do is to untie a
handkerchief first then afterwards you will pop
the balloon to get the scroll inside of it.
Understood? Yes sir.

The scroll is written with words which you will


use it in a sentence. The first group who can
accomplish it first will be declared the winner. Is
that clear class? Yes sir.
C. Presentation

Did you enjoy our game? What can you say? I can say that it is enjoyable, sir!
I can say that it is exciting, sir!

Alright, very well said. This time, I will flash a


video clip. Watch and listen carefully because I
will be asking some questions after. (the students will attentively listen and
carefully watch the video clip)

What did you notice regarding the action words? Sir, the action words were being combined
with another word.

What do you call them? We call them Modals, sir!

So what are modals class? any idea? Sir, modals are special verbs that function
differ from a normal verb.
Sir, modals are words use to connect with the
main verb to form a new action verb.

Look! The moon so full and bright,


shining in front of the house!
How can you explain to me,
that the rays are soft and cool?

If a man like us he were,


I would hold him by the hand!
Seize the hair to keep him back!
Grasp the clothes to make him stay!

But how could I manage that!


It is the moon in the sky!
The full moon shining so bright,
going down beyond the hills,
disappearing from the plain,
out of sight behind the rocks.

Activity 3: Discussion

Okay, let's now discuss the poem. Please read in


chorus the first stanza.

Alright, have you tried watching the moon at


night? Yes sir.

Can you differentiate the rays of the sun and the


moon? Sir, the rays of the sun is brighter than the
moon.
Sir, the rays of the sun is hot while the moon
is cool.
Very good! Now, what is being described in this
stanza?
Sir, the moon.
How does the moon being described?
Sir, the moon is full and bright.
Very good! Let's proceed to second stanza. Again,
let's read in chorus.

Okay, in this stanza who is being compared to the


moon?
Sir, the moon was compared to a man.
In what way does the moon being compared to a
man?
Sir, the moon was given human traits.
Very good! What are these human traits?
Sir, the moon was given a hand.
Sir, the moon was given a hair.
Sir, the moon was described with clothes.
Very good! Let's have the last stanza. Again, let's
read it in chorus.

What do you think the last stanza talks about?


Sir, the location of the moon.
Very good! Can you please read the line that
explained the location of the moon?
Sir, it is the moon in the sky.
Can you please read also the lines from the stanza
where the moon is going?
Sir, going down beyond the hills.
Sir, disappearing from the plain.
Sir, out of sight behind the rocks.
Very good! Now, class can you please tell me why
the man in the poem wants the moon to stay?

Very good! The man wants the moon to stay


because he needs more time to court the woman.
Now, what if you will be asked which way of
courtship do you prefer? Is it the traditional or the
modern one?
Sir, I want the traditional.
