1 ). “ Knowledge of curriculum is by definition central to professional teacher”

Teachers are crucial in the development, implementation, assessment, and modification of the
curriculum. Ensure that pupils learn and are well-prepared for the future. Curriculum is an area
of vital importance to the professional teacher. The study of curriculum has become part of
teacher s’ education. It is somehow a reason why teachers’ is in school. Therefore teachers
should be knowledgeable about curriculum.

2). Enumerate the fundamental questions teachers need to ask when planning a curriculum.

The fundamental questions teachers need to ask when planning a curriculum are:

a) What to teach?
b) How to teach?
c) When to teach?
d) What is the impact of teaching?
e) What knowledge is of most worth to learners?
f) What activities are most effective in enabling learners to acquired this knowledge?
g) What is the most appropriate ways to organize these activities?
h) How do they know if learners have acquired this knowledge?

3) Compare & Contrast

a) Planned Curriculum & Implemented Curriculum

Implemented Curriculum is what actually taught by teachers in their classroom as they and
their students interact with the intended and available curricula. While the Planned
Curriculum are what the organizations for the learners in their educational system and what
should be taught by the teachers in that system using syllabus.

b)  Recommended & Implemented Curriculum

Recommended Curriculum are proposed by the scholars and professional organization as a


solution to meet a need and consequently perceived as the most appropriate for learners. While
Implemented Curriculum refers to the different planned activities which are put into action in the
classroom, it varies according to the learning styles of students and teaching styles of the
teachers.

c)  Prescribed Curriculum. & Supported Curriculum

Prescribe curriculum are those came from any organization who has a take on education.
While Supported curriculum are which can be taught in school through the provision of
appropriate resources both human and materials.

a) What educational purposes should the school seek to attain?


b) What educational learning experiences can be provided that are likely to attain these
purposes?
c) How can these educational experiences be effectively organized?
d) How can we determine whether these purposes are being attained?

A) curriculum as a plan

Curriculum consisting of a plan of predetermined statements of intents such as goals,


objectives and aims or what the students should learn. Another is as statements of intended
learning outcomes or what the learner must acquire .

B) Curriculum as an experience

Curriculum is a set of experiences learners encounter in educational context. Most of


these are purposely planned by means of the written curriculum, but more experiences are
encountered by the learners in educational context. Through experiencing the hidden
curriculum acquires many forms of learning that were not planned yet. In this characterization
of curriculum the teachers acts more as facilitator to enhance the learner’s personal growth.

C) curriculum and syllabus

A syllabus is typically a list of content areas which are to be assessed. Sometimes


the list is extended to include a number of objectives and learning activities. It is the
subsection of curriculum and as such is subsumed within the broader concept. While
curriculum includes not only content and a detailed statement of curriculum intent,b ut also
the other curriculum elements including detailed learning activities and evaluation procedure.
