Top 100 words + Phonetic Spelling

Here are the top 100 words in English that form the foundation of all of your English
conversations.

The quickest and easiest way to improve your pronunciation and speak English like a native,
is to remove the mistakes you’re making with these words.

You use nearly all of these words in EVERY conversation you have, so it’s essential to
integrate them clearly into your English speaking if you want to feel confident when you
speak.

Weak Form Words (Column 2)

Many of these words have a ‘weak form’ pronunciation. This is simply an ‘easier’ unstressed
pronunciation of the word that is used unless the word is intentionally being stressed. Native
speakers use THIS pronunciation of the word nearly all the time!

Taking advantage of the weak form pronunciation is very important if you want to speak with
native English rhythm. All the most successful learners of English I know use the weak forms
of words to make their English flow naturally.

Connected speech - The Linking ‘r’

When there is a small ‘r’ in the phonetic spelling (e.g /fɔːr/) it means the word has a linking r
when used in connected speech, if the next word begins with a vowel.
