Medha Patkar
Ms. Medha Patkar is well known social activist and social reformer
turned politician.
She completed “MA in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social
Sciences”, after which she worked with voluntary organisations in
Mumbai's slums for 5 years and tribal districts of North-East Gujarat
for 2 years. Later she involved herself in voicing out problems faced
by tribal and peasant communities in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
She founded the Narmada Bachao Andolan and National Alliance of People's Movements
and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Goldman Environmental Prize,
Amnesty International's Human Rights Defender's Award and the BBC's Green Ribbon
Award.

Mr. Adil Malia
Mr. Adil Malia serves as the President of Human Resources for Essar
group of companies. Mr. Malia has 27 years of global work experience
spanning India, Southwest Asia, the Middle East and the U.S.
He has a Bachelor Degree in Commerce as well as Law and Master's
degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from the Tata
Institute of Social Sciences (1984-1986). He has also done an Advanced Management
Program from the Wharton Business School and Senior Leadership Revenue Growth
Program from Georgia Tech University.
He started his career at Godrej Group where he spent close to 9 years handling roles
ranging from Sales, HR, to training and development. Post his stint in the Godrej Group, he
worked with GE Appliances in India and US as General Manager (HRD & IR). Prior to
Coca-Cola, he served as the Group General Manager (HRD) at Al Futtaim Sons for their
Middle East operations. He joined Essar in August 2006.
His achievements in field of Human Resource makes him a legend. At Essar group he is
responsible for Human Resources strategy, policies and programs for the entire group and
plays a critical role in providing vision and leadership to the HR function to deliver on the
group's strategic and operating goals.
Apni Shala
He started a venture called Bharat Calling, through
which he is working in the tribal areas of Madhya
Pradesh to train, support and mentor students to
pursue higher education.
It was started as a part of internship program in
2009 by TISS M.A in Social Entrepreneurship
course students (2009-11). The operation was
carried by first assessing the situation of tribal
block (Kesla M.P) students in higher education (82% drop out till 10th 2001 census), then
they moved to information providing than to support in form filling, coaching during
summers and then to final linkages to respective universities. Started with 1 school and 0
role models, the organization is now spread to 27 schools with more than 100 role models in
higher education, since its inception.
His dedication towards the vision of the organisation makes him an icon. If he has to travel
300 kilometers to accompany a student that needs to take an entrance exam, and sleep on
the railway platform while he waits, so be it. That’s the level of his commitment. Just over a
year into operation, he helped over 50 students, a majority of whom were girls, from the
poorest parts of Madhya Pradesh, who are now fortunate to go the top universities in India.

Ramana Babu Killi
Ramana Killi is the founder of Green Basics. It is an
organization focused on formulating and implementing
sustainable integrated agriculture farming systems.
He holds his Masters in Social Entrepreneurship from
Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS)
Ramana comes from a farming village in Andhra Pradesh and has studied agriculture. From
an early age he has been interested in optimizing farming, after completing his Masters
program from TISS, Ramana set-out to launch Green Basics in 2011. They have so far
worked with over 300 paddy farmers, ploughed over 250 acres of land and trained 2500
farmers on seed multiplication.
His responsibility and sensitivity towards farming has today modernised many old school
methods of farming in villages of Andhra Pradesh and Goa.
Today Green Basics has trained over 2500 farmers on seed multiplication and have
provided tablets to 40 farmers clubs that they have established so far across 40 villages.
