ANSHU GUPTA
Born in a middle-class family in Uttar Pradesh, took media as a profession and while
as an intern he witnessed the need of proper clothing for the poor in rural India. Anshu
then founded Goonj, a social enterprise that collects used clothing from the urban
crowd, sort them, fix and later distribute among the poor and needy. The relief work
was done by Goonj during the times of natural calamities in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and
Kerala have been highly acknowledged.
Muhammad Yunus

Professor Muhammad Yunus was born in the port city of Chittagong in 1940. Professor Yunus
studied at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and then received a Full Bright scholarship to
study economics at Vanderbilt University. He got a Ph.D. He majored in economics at
Vanderbilt University in 1969 and became an assistant professor of economics at Middle
Tennessee State University the following year. After returning to Bangladesh, Yunus headed the
Faculty of Economics at the University of Chittagong.

He founded the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh in 1983, based on the belief that credit is a
fundamental human right. His goal was to help the poor escape poverty by lending on the terms
that suit them and teaching some sound financial principles so that they can help themselves.
Grameen Bank is at the forefront of a fast-growing global movement to eradicate poverty
through microcredit, with Yunus providing a small personal loan to poverty basketweaver in
Bangladesh. Replicas of the Grameen Bank model are in operation in more than 100 countries
around the world.

Blake Mycoskie

A simple idea has evolved into a global movement. On his 2006 trip to Argentina, Blake
witnessed the hardships of children growing up without shoes. His solution to this problem was
simple but innovative. In short, it was about creating a sustainable, profitable business that wasn't
dependent on donations. Blake's vision quickly turned into a simple business idea that formed a
strong foundation for TOMS.

Since its inception, TOMS Shoes has provided approximately 96 million pairs of shoes to
children around the world. Blake resigned as CEO of TOMS in 2014 after selling half of the
company to Bain Capital. With half of his earnings, he set up the Social Entrepreneurship Fund
to help early startups with social core missions get on track with the coveted funds. Since then,
he has invested in over 25 social enterprises.
For the first time in 18 years, Blake noticed that he wasn't actively starting or launching a
business. During this transition, a new mission was born. In the spring of 2020, Blake co-
founded his latest venture, Madefor. A 10-month program that applies modern neuroscience,
psychology, and physiology principles to improve the brain and body. Developed by scientists at
Stanford University, Harvard University, and other top universities, Madefor helps people learn
and maintain positive habits and habits that have the greatest impact on their lives.

SUMITA GHOSE
Sushmita Ghosh is the founder of Ashoka Changemakers, an open-ended platform for
social innovation that was one-of-its-kind in the world. Sushmita aims to revive the
craftsmanship and talent that is unharnessed in rural India and aims to provide them
with their deserving recognition. She started with ‘Rangasutra’, a retail chain from
FabIndia and it turned out to be a huge success.
