First of all, while we were in rotation, we recorded 82.6 percent efficient boiler machine which is
below 85 %.
The major contributing factor as the pareto indicates the 51 percent of losses is chimney loss.
So, we recommend a heat exchanger, which reduces the flue gas temperature from 250 ℃ to
180 ℃, and enhances feed water temperature from 45 ℃ to 95 ℃, at the same time the steam
quality increases.
So, what are the heat exchanger parts? And its dimensions?

3. Tube sheet
4. Tube
5. Baffle
Once each part is manufactured from low carbon steel it must be welded in each connection.
Once the flue gas enters the head inlet nozzle and blows through the line with in 4 passes of 26
tubes, and then discharged through the head outlet nozzle. At the same time the feed water enters
the shell inlet nozzle and blows through the shell line with in 58 speed increasing baffles.
Baffles are 25 percent cut segmental, in which 25% of shell side fluid line is open at a time in
order to increase the shell side fluid heat absorption period.
Afterall, installation of an economizer in boiler will enhance the boiler efficiency with 3.2%, as
we have seen in the chart. So, what does it mean? Within 40,000 ETB installation cost we can
save 72000 ETB. Within interest rate of 15% to save 3 million birrs in ten years’ time.

So, what shall we conclude from our presentation from the cost inefficient machine costing over
2 million ETB. Reducing factors affecting energy loss will be economical. By the way it is not
the end for the improvement, this is only recommendation design.so rework will be defined if
then the known pre-requests are full field.
