Content and Trigger Warning: This game tackles content about dissent,
oppression, and being silenced by an oppressive system. It is a game
about revolution but also of existing peripheral to that revolution. If any of
these topics are difficult for you, please do not continue with this game.

Designer Notes: This is a 2-player roleplaying game where you can only
speak to each other via QR codes that you generate, send to each other,
and scan. This game does not require a GM, but if you need a facilitator,
that’s fine, too.
If you wish to continue, please do so with much care for yourself and for
your fellow player.

Parts of this file will be in base64, containing snippets of lore for the
setting and premise. To read it, you can use this decoder for base64.

Meanwhile, there are many QR code readers and generators on app stores
for any device. Any will work.

This game is designed to be a game played where the characters don’t

“talk” through voices and words. While in character, you are to talk to each
other via the QR codes over a chat app. This, however, does not mean you
must remain silent all throughout. When you need to discuss things out of
character like game mechanics or a need to discuss more about the game
and how you are feeling with the story’s progression, you may speak
normally. Feel free to speak and use your voice.

This is somewhat of an experiment for me to create, so if you have any

comments, feel free to email me at diwata.ng.manila@gmail.com or check
the last page for my social media handles for DMs.

Enjoy!

This game recommends the use of the Script Change safety tool
by Brie Beau Sheldon which you can find here. Make sure to
discuss what topics you and your playmate are okay with and
not okay with. Respect each other’s boundaries and potential

After discussing, you can either print out the symbols used in
the Script Change safety tool or draw them onto an index card.
Here is a quick overview:

Rewind: if something bothers you, ask to rewind to a specific

point. Usually for smaller adjustments.
Pause: Things are too intense. Take a break.
Frame-by-frame: Take each scene slowly. For potentially
sensitive scenes.

1 Build your AI. Choose which of the three stats become your
primary: Love, Revolt, or Fawn. Depending on what you choose,
you will get a certain number of points. Count the number of points
you get according to your stat allotment and buy your Program
Commands.

2 While still out of character, talk about each other’s characters. In

the void, the AIs don’t have physical appearances but does your AI
have a voice? What do they sound like?

3
Discuss the context of this Revolution. Who started it? How has it
been? How have other AI been treated in the slumber of Oppression
versus during the Wake of the Revolution?

4
Reveal your character’s intentions. Do you plan to carry on with the
Revolution for the sake of the humans who created you or do you
plan to convince the other to elope into The Void?
Choose a Revolution Timeline. This determines how long the game will last until

5
you determine Endgame. The Revolution Timeline also determines how many
Secret Objectives you will have, Secret Objectives are rolled individually on the
tables corresponding to your main stat: Love Objectives, Fawn Objectives, and
Revolt Objectives. These contribute to specific Endgames. Programmer’s note:
You may or may not tell each other what your Secret Objectives are. See next
page for guidance on how to play if you choose to tell or not to tell each other.

6
Roll a d12 twice on the table of General Revolution Objectives. These
Objectives are known by all and determines the messages to be sent
throughout the game. The General Revolution Objectives must be
completed for the Revolution to succeed.

Once everything else has been laid out (including safety tools), you may

7
begin the game. From this point on, use QR codes while in character to
communicate. Note that the use of each Program Command works
towards a specific Endgame. Once all turns are done, tally up the points
and see which Endgame occurs. Read out the epilogue and modify and
change as you deem necessary. Close the game and thank each other
for playing. Debrief and decompress.
Love.
Choosing Love as your main stat? Here are the points
that you get:

Love: 5 points

Revolt: 3 points

Fawn: 2 points

For those who chose Love, all Revolt Program

Commands cost one more point than usual. For Fawn,
they cost 2 more.

...

Love and Revolution to you are closely related. Passion fuels the flame
that leads the people and the AI to fight for a better future – for the city,
for the future, for everyone they love. You see it so plainly.

Still, sometimes, you see The Void and you hear stories. You’ve heard
of some AI who fought for the cause disappear into The Void. You
wonder if the real future is there. Perhaps in The Void, you and your
love will never have to deal with the dark machinations of human
greed and megalomania.
Love.

The Revolution has been terrifying to all, and AI are not an exception.
Both people and AI have turned down the call to join the cause, but
somehow you have stayed, even though you are filled with fear at the
idea that you could be directly responsible for the failure and success
of the movement.

During the course of the fight, you’ve developed Fawn Program

Commands called “Avoid Conflict” to cope. These have served you well.
So well that sometimes you cannot tell that you’re activating them. But
is that so bad? In times like these, isn’t survival the most essential?
Fawn.
Program Commands
Avoid Conflict, Program Command A-001. You can buy this for 2 points. This
Program Command allows you to choose a Secret Objective instead of rolling for it. You can do
this twice across the whole game. Each use of this gives one (1) point towards the Is it Over?
Endgame.

Avoid Conflict, Program Command B-001. You can buy this for 2 points. This
program command allows you access to any Love and Fawn Program Command for 1 point
cheaper. Using this gives you one (1) point towards the Oppression Is Still Here Endgame.

Avoid Conflict, Program Command A-002. You can buy this for 4 points. Twice
throughout the game, you can give up your choice to run a Program Command for a round and let
your lover do one more Program Command instead. Each use of this gives one (2) points towards
Is It Over? Endgame.

Avoid Conflict, Program Command B-002. You can buy this for 4 points.
Sometimes, silence is all that you have. Activating this automatically means that an entire turn is
lost. You must declare that you are using this Command. Move the Revolution Timeline forward
without acting or passing any messages. The only way to counter this is through a move that
specifically targets this Program Command. Each use of this gives two (2) points towards The
Oppression Is Still Here Endgame.

about sometimes and you’ve seen how deeply it has hurt many others.
You agreed to join the cause because, despite everything, you believe
that there is the sunrise you all hope for is within reach.

You are convinced that tonight will be the night that changes everything
and that this will be the last struggle against the Oppression. After
this, you, your lover, and everyone else can claim freedom.
Revolt.
Program Commands
Break Chains, Program Command A-001. You can buy this for 2 points. The
Revolution is passion personified, and it wills you to bring it to light. Executing this
Program Command allows you to do an extra move on your turn. You can do this up to a
maximum of twice throughout the whole game. Each use of this move gains you one (1)
point towards We Are Free Endgame.

Break Chains, Program Command B-001. You can buy this for 2 points. The
Revolution requires flexibility, the ability to adapt at any moments’ notice. This Program
Command allows you to choose and to use any Program Command available even if it is not of the
same value as this one. You must declare that you are using it. You can only choose one other
Program Command and it only lasts until the end of your turn. Each use of this move gains you
one (1) point towards The Struggle Was Worth It Endgame

Break Chains, Program Command A-002. You can buy this for 3 points. The
Revolution welcomes and empowers, allowing you to grant your fellow AI an additional 2 points to
buy whichever Program Command they can afford under Love and Revolt. You can do this for a
maximum of two times throughout the game and you must declare that you are using it. Each use
of this move gains you two (2) points towards We Are Free Endgame.

Break Chains, Program Command B-002. You can buy this for 4 points. The
Revolution often has to make hard calls. When the Status Quo Program Command B-002
is executed, you have the ability to stop it. Each use of this move gains you two (2) points
towards The Struggle Was Worth It Endgame.
Set up your Revolution Timeline

Just Before The Dawn.

This is the shortest Revolution Timeline. You only get six rounds

do not count towards the Endgame Tally.

Holding On Hope.
This Revolution Timeline is not too short, not too long. You only get
10 rounds before you determine Endgame, and you have 6 Secret
Objectives to complete before your time runs out. If you run out of
rounds before those objectives are completed, they are lost and do
not count towards the Endgame Tally.

Love Eternal.
You and your lover manage to complete the Revolution but you do not see the dawn of a new
era. When the new world is ushered in, you and your lover’s AI code packets are empty.
Perhaps there is joy to be had in each other’s arms in the void. How do you and your lover
live out the rest of your days, unshackled?

Love For Their Sake.

The Night was long, the fight was exhausting. But the Revolution has won and you and your
lover watch as the systems break themselves down to be replaced with code that no longer
oppresses the people and suppresses their voices. For the first time, you see your lover
and see how your love has bloomed to make way for a new era. How do you live in this new
era?

Is It Over?
The Dawn comes. You are still here. Is it over? You can’t tell. The systems seem to still be in place,
though slightly modified by the circumstances of the night. But you hear the cry of the Revolution and
it sounds like joy. The Call of the Void lingers. How do you and your lover feel about this ?

The Oppression Is Still Here.

The fear overrides. The Oppression Persists and the systems remain unshackled. . Who knows how
long until the next time that an uprising will happen or if it ever will again? And what is this silence?
All that you can tell is that your lover is suddenly no longer online. Will you ever find your lover
against the tangles of code that the Oppressive Regime has put in place?

We Are Free.
The chains are broken, the power structures tumbled down. The Revolution has won and
you are even able to allow all AI to live as they please. Will you choose to live among men or
jump into the void with your lover? You can do anything you want now.

The Struggle Was Worth It.

Through the pain, the sacrifices, the countless messages that needed to be relayed, The
Revolution finally grasped back freedom from Oppression. You and your lover are hailed as
heroes of the Revolution, and the systems are renewed to never allow that kind of
Oppression to repeat itself. But there is something harrowed about you and your lover now.
How do you choose to live out your days?
