Guidelines for 4th Quarter AY 2019-2020

MODE OF DELIVERY

All courses offered in the 4th Quarter AY 2019-2020 will be conducted via online
delivery through Cardinal Edge.

CAN PASS, CAN’T FAIL POLICY


The CAN PASS, CAN’T FAIL policy is extended to 4 th Quarter of AY 2019-2020. With
this policy, students who fulfill course requirements and pass the course will be
given a passing mark. Those who cannot complete the course requirements on time
or pass the course will be given a grade of IP. Students are given all the chances for
two quarters to convert the IP grade into a passing mark. Students can attend the
classes where they got an IP grade without having to pay tuition and other fees.

As with the previous quarter, students who will get a grade of IP will be given two
quarters to complete the course requirements, until the end of 2 nd Quarter AY 2020-
2021.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY


It is the student’s responsibility to refrain from infractions of academic integrity,
from conduct that may lead to suspicion of such infractions, and from conduct that
aids others in such infractions. Any of the following sanctions may be imposed to
any student who is found guilty of committing online academic dishonesty:
a. Failed mark in the course
b. Suspension for a period of less than one term, with or without community
service
c. Suspension for a period of one term or more, with or without community
service
d. Non-readmission to the University
e. Dismissal from the University
f. Expulsion

The following are considered academic dishonesty:


1. Student’s individual account is linked to his/her MyMapua email address.
Using another MyMapua email address to login to any platform (such as
BlackBoard and Coursera) with or without permission is prohibited.
2. Outsourcing or students asking/hiring someone else to take their exams,
homework, Coursera course, or write their papers for them. Answers to
homework, quizzes, and exams must be the student’s work (except for
assignments and activities that explicitly permit collaboration).
3. Recording, saving, and distributing or receiving copies of test questions,
answers, or answer keys to an online quiz or test from someone who has
already taken it.
4. Plagiarism or the unethical act of stealing the thoughts of another without
proper citation or reference, acquiring information from the Internet without
acknowledging the author, copying from another student’s work without
permission and submitting it as own work.
5. Massive, pre-meditated, organized online cheating using instant
messaging/email during a quiz or exam.
6. Dishonesty in peer-reviewed assignments/submissions (e.g. Coursera peer-
graded submissions).
7. Engaging in any activities that will dishonestly improve results, or dishonestly
improve or damage the results of others.
8. Any other form of dishonesty or cheating in any assessment or course
requirement.

ASSESSMENT
Faculty member can require time limit to an examination but in consideration to the
varying quality of internet connectivity of students. Ample time must be given to the
student to satisfy the requirement, for example, a one-hour examination can be
finished within a 12-hour period.

Faculty members should give maximum consideration to students who lost internet
connection during examination.

CONVERSION OF IP TO PASSING GRADE

Students with a grade of IP in the 3 rd quarter of AY 2019-2020 can convert their IP


grade to passing mark until the end of 1 st Quarter of AY 2020-2021. All IP grades in
thesis courses can still be completed up to four (4) quarters.

Students with IP grades must communicate with their instructor to determine how
they will complete the course requirements.

Students who failed to convert their IP grade to passing mark by the end of the 1st
Quarter of AY 2020-2021 need to re-enroll the course in the 2 nd Quarter AY 2020-
2021, if offered.
Thesis

Allowing students to perform in campus research for thesis work will be dependent
on the policy of the government and the university.

Considering the current situation, it is advisable for advisers to give thesis topics in
the areas of computational research, data analysis, meta-analysis or correlation
research, and similar endeavors.

OJT
OJT Course Advisers must submit the proposed Alternative Learning Activities
(ALA) with the corresponding credit hours to their respective Deans and/or
Program Chairs for their approval. Copy of the same shall be submitted to ICEP for
documentation.

OJT Course Advisers must ensure that the students submit the following documents
to ICEP prior to the start of their virtual internship program (VIP)
 Duly signed Certificate of Acceptance
 Terms and Conditions for VIP in lieu of the Waiver
 Training Plan

OJT Course Advisers must ensure that the students under the ALA submit the duly
accomplished ALA form (Annex C) to ICEP for documentation.

STATUS REVIEW
The evaluation of academic status for Academic Year 2019-2020 will be suspended.
No student will be removed from his/her program for this academic year due to
academic status.

SHIFTING
Students who would like to shift must email the Registrar at
registrar@mapua.edu.ph from June 8 to July 24, 2020. The rules of shifting apply
and can be found in the Academic Handbook, which students can download from
their MyMapua account.
