CONTEMPORARY PHILIPPINE ARTS FROM THE REGIONS
Quarter I

Title of the Activity:

Most Essential Learning Competencies: Describes various contemporary art forms and their
practices from the various regions

I. Directions/Instructions:

Points to Remember
1. Art is an Index of culture. It is the highest expression of a civilization’s way of life and
cultural achievement
2. To appreciate art is to understand culture.
3. Many art forms and practices from the regions are not learned by all Filipinos.
4. Learning them will build better foundation for Cultural understanding

Objectives: the learners should e able to present form of integrated contemporary art based on
the region of his/her choice e.g. choregraphy, musical instrument, literary and music
composition, visual design, and / or theatrical performance
Procedure:
1. Groupings.The class will be grouped in 3 to 4 of 5 members
each. All discussions will be done on Onlilne Mode. Primriy
using the FB Messenger App and its Group Chat mode as
the contact point. A private messaging system will also be
used for confidential communication. Each group will be
named after a Filipino Artist from the regions. So the first
assignment of the group is to research on the form of art
from the regions and identify the proponent or pioneer of
such art and adopt his /her ame as the name of the group.
What must appear in the class group chat(CGC) will be the
names of the groups. Each group shall elect a team leader.
Another chat group or the whole class will be created
where all members of the class must time in the assigned
time every day as a mode of attendance checking. This will
be known as class attendance Box. (CAB).
2. Prepare a drawing of the Philippine map representing
these cultural regions as 1) Iloco-Pangasinense region, 2)
North Valley region (north central Luzo) 3) Cordillera
Region 4) Kapampangan (central Luzon) region 5) Northern
Tagalog region 5) Southern Tagalog (calabarzon ang
mimaropa provinces)Region 6) Bicol region(Bicol
provinces) 7) Waray region(Samar and Leyte provinces) 8)
Sugbuhanon region 9) hiligaynon region 10) butuanon
region (Northeaster Mindanao provinces) 11) Bukidnon
