Dream yoga information

I frequently receive requests for information regarding various details of my programs I

hope this document will answer many of those questions.

Personal care

While I am visiting I will at minimum  need a private room with a comfortable bed . A
room in the house or apartment of another member of the Sangha is ok .
If I am staying alone in an apartment or hotel it should be stocked with the basics ;
food , paper goods etc . You should also provide me with some money ( walk around
money ) in the local currency .

I am generally very flexible when it comes to food. I like to try native recipes and
dishes. I I do particularly enjoy seafood. I am not a vegetarian and I do not need gluten
free dishes. Generally for breakfast I will eat cereal juices and fruit. For lunch I would be
happy with a salad and soup.

During the program depending on my jet lag I may need some tea or coffee otherwise
I would be happy with some juice or water and perhaps a healthy snack  like fruit .

When I am at home I try to exercise most every day. I enjoy biking and swimming. If it
is possible to provide me with a bicycle or access to a swimming pool it would be
great. This is especially desirable when I am staying on the road for more than a few
days.

Also as travel takes it's toll on the body if there is someone amongst the group who
does massage or other types of healing practices that would be a nice gift. Due to
sometimes serious back issues I will need a chair when I teach . It would be good to
also have meditation pillows on hand. Please be sure to provide me with a mattress
that is reasonably firm . Most mattresses require rotation I'm to be turned over every
few weeks.

Advertising

Many groups have created beautiful advertising for my programs  over the years I will
forward these to you so that you can use them as necessary. If you create an original
ad please send me a copy in a form that can be modified. This will be helpful for other
groups as well .

Program logistics
Generally I do not specify the cost per day as it varies from country to country. You
should set the price so as to cover all costs. Generally my courses run for a weekend
one session on Friday night and two sessions on Saturday and Sunday. If the hosting
group has the proper equipment I have a slideshow available for the public talk on
Friday night.

Sometimes the number of sessions varies depending on the circumstances and

particularly if it is a residential program. My courses seem to draw between 30 and 60
participants however one never knows.

There is no maximum number of participants for my programs. I think that the more
people who participate the better. I don't specify who might deserve discounts to my
programs however my personal preference would be that students have the
opportunity to do work-study or come at A significant discount. I think that if Young
people are to be exposed to the dharma we need to make accommodations.

If we are doing a public program anyone may participate. If we are doing a program
that requires transmission it may also be open for participants who intend  to receive
transmission in the near future. Sometimes we have created a form for people to sign
indicating that they intend to  participate in a transmission with CNN in the near
future. Although no one is going to monitor this it helps them to realize that it is a
serious commitment that they must  follow through

Participants should bring writing materials, sun glasses,  a small hand mirror and some
props for psychodrama of dreams. What I mean by props is that sometimes when we
have a powerful lucid dream we may choose to dramatize the dream and act it out. In
order to do this we should have props such as fabrics masks sacred objects etc. if
people bring a few things we will have enough for any possibility. Depending on the
circumstances people may also want to bring meditation pillows.or a mat.

I also try to be as flexible as possible in regards to the space that I will teach in but at
minimum it should be well ventilated and as quiet as possible .

We will be doing some exercises which require lying down. Occasionally when the
space is not large enough for everyone to lie down I have divided the group in half and
had two sessions.  If I do this I will send the half of the group that is not doing the nap
exercise to do another activity outside of the room.

If it is a large group and a large space it is very helpful  to have a sound system . Also
as I teach in English there may need to be a translator . In general I have allowed
recording at my programs particularly the public programs however during the
psychodrama and meditation exercises it may not be appropriate. If a recording is
created I would like a copy and if there is any intention to use this material
commercially we will have to discuss it.

If the hosting group intends to webcast my non-public program the participants will
need to also commit to receiving transmission if they have not already done so.

I would appreciate a small table next to my chair so as to put my materials on it. I will
also need meditation cushions for some meditation exercises during the program.

Frequently during my programs we have also scheduled sessions of vajra dance in the
earlier morning before I teach. In particular it is nice when we do a short dance session
such as the Om Ah Hum dance .

We generally  end my programs with a Puja and sometimes with a party  as well .

Meeting at the Airport

It is very important that I receive phone numbers of the people who are meeting me . I
also would like a back up emergency number or two .  Please do not use my Skype
number in order to contact me at the airport. All Skype conferences must be pre-
arranged as the app is not active on my phone unless I know in advance .

Care must be taken to arrive at our rendezvous point on time . This is very important .!

It is even helpful if I have a picture of the person or people who are meeting me .
Possibly  they  can friend me on Facebook in advance .

Green Energy ( money )

I have been doing these programs for many years and worked collaborative with many
groups . The most important thing about my programs is to turn the wheel of he
Dharma but of course money is also an important subject .

At the end of a program everyone should feel happy .

If I am purchasing the ticket in advance the host group should reimburse me by wire
transfer immediately . Unfortunately  I am receiving too many invitations to book
thousands of dollars in travel expenses and then wait until the program occurs to be
reimbursed . The hosting community should notify me when they are making a transfer
and I will confirm that I have received it. The necessary information is as follows

Gifts and stipends

In almost every program that I have taught the host communities have been very
generous with their gifts and stipends.  The host communities often use the same
formula for me as  they use with the yoga and dance teachers.

If it is a public program the host communities might also offer a normal percentage
Typically  organizations other than the Dzogchen community will compensate a
teacherc from 25 -50 % of net priceeds after all expenses have been paid.

Hosting communities who have made books and other items available for sale have
generally found that sale of these items will often double their revenues.

.Occasionally a hosting community has failed to anticipate the expenses involved with
a program. If this occurs it would be normal to announce to the participants that the
course fees did not include a gift for the teacher and or the translator and to ask them
for a donation called Dana  in Sanskrit.

Although these formulas have worked well for me in many situations I would like to
emphasize again that everything depends on the circumstances. If it is necessary to do
something in a different way the main Principal is to assist CNN and to turn the wheel
of Dharma.
