QUESTIONS:
1. When do you usually make decisions using your rationality?

•To make a rational decision you must first know your goal and obtain relevant information about it. Then you
must determine the possible consequences of all the actions you could take and how likely each outcome is.
Most people have multiple goals and so you need to determine the consequences of each possible action on
those other goals, too.

2. When do you usually make decision invoking your experience?

•Making decisions are hard especially if we don’t have enough knowledge. Some says that “experience is the
best teacher” and that is indeed right. For example, we made a mistake which is in the past, and the same
thing will happen again but since we already experienced the mistake, we’ll make a way to prevent that from
happening.

3. What do you use more often in making decisions? Reason or experience? Why?

•Some people will accomplish more faster. When you know exactly what you are trying to achieve, you can
do it faster. Period. I doubt that requires more explanation. Speed comes from greater clarity of purpose and
process.

4. Were there instances when you thought you could have used reason better in making a decision rather than
your own experiences and vice versa? What are those instances?
•Decision making is a central responsibility of managers and leaders. It requires defining the issue or the
problem and identifying the factors related to it. Doing so helps create a clear understanding of what needs to be
decided and can influence the choice between alternatives. An important aspect of any decision is its purpose, or
objective. This is different from identifying a specific decision outcome; rather, it has to do with the motivation to make
the decision in the first place. For instance, customer complaints can imply the need to change aspects of how
service is delivered, so decisions must be made to address them. Factors that are not related to service delivery
would not be in consideration in that decision.
