activity, your group will need to select one of the following types of the Community Services organisations to
use as their employer: Child services, Aged Care, Drug and Alcohol support or Family needs or use the scenario
from Task 1
The learning group are the business development team of the Community Service for which all the group
work. They have been appointed with the task of developing and documenting new strategies for networking
and collaboration for the organisation. The group will need to discuss the networking collaboration needs and
opportunities for your business and then will need to develop and document collaboration strategies for your
organisation.

In the meeting students will need to discuss and document the following:
There are several ways to improve performance through collaboration. Individuals and
organisation may conduct a needs assessment to identify various needs to be prioritized, apply
appropriate networking to address the specific needs identified, communicate regularly and train
effectively to show progress.
Every division attended a meeting and identified the five (5) organisation and individual needs as

Each organisation and members of all networks have different abilities and areas with
which they will be able to most effectively contribute. By recognizing the skills and
attributes of all members and sharing relevant information with other organisations
within the network, they can effectively overcome duplication in service delivery. There
has to be a shared respect and desire to assist the community. There has to be a give and
take relationship to make all contributions reasonable for all parties involved.
Maintaining currency means being updated and abreast of developments and changes in
the chosen field of focus. This is done through watching informational videos, reading
articles, journals and newsletters and discussing with other professionals. Sustaining
accessibility of information entails attending relevant professional activities that
promotes growth and advancement and participation in networks and communities of
practice.

6. Define and document the type and level of collaboration
The type and level of collaboration should be well defined and documented so that both parties
are well aware of their roles and responsibilities, limitations and expectations in the engagement.
Other organisations often make contact to enquire certain information. Having documented the
services, the organisation could readily provide information. However, it is necessary to consider
the nature of the enquiry and only provide information that is applicable and confidential
information should be carefully evaluated as to the appropriateness of disclosure. Other enquiries
may be in relation to referrals and complaints. It is important to respond to requests in a timely
manner and exert concerted efforts to meet desired timelines.

distribution of meals. This has helped the organisation to provide clients with their proper meal
