1. The fundamental requirements of a good solvent are:


- The solvent must not react with the substances to be purified
- It should dissolve the impurities readily and the impunities must not be precipitated
when the solvent is cooled.
- It should be easily removed from the crystallized product
- It should yield a well-defined crystals
- It should be relatively non-toxic, non- flammable, easily handled and low in cost
2. The more effective in extraction using a small amount of solvent because it is easily
dissolved. Moreover, we can see the difference clearly if we use small amount of
solvent rather than using greater amount of solvent.
3. One of the advantages of sublimation is the convenience of seeing the end result or
product because it is in a solid state. Another advantage is in this process, the
substance does not need to undergo into a liquid state before vaporized. On the other
hand, there is a disadvantage for sublimation. During the process, it releases a bad
odor.
