Analysis and Discussion

Root Cause

1. Communication gap

Virtual teams, just like any other teams, should communicate and cooperate to work on

any task or product development (Thomas, 2007). The shortfall of actual presence is

considered significant downside of virtual groups and virtual work. Some virtual

colleagues might be less valuable or fulfilled because they feel segregated and

disconnected from their work and colleagues (Berry, 2011).

At xxxx, the communication is done through electronic media like email, voicemail,

and Skype. With the absence of physical interaction communication through electronic

media could be misunderstood at times depending on the language used.
