Introduction
Welcome to the Evaluation Booklet for World
Explorers 2. This book contains material that will help
you to evaluate what your pupils have learnt.

Evaluation for the teacher and pupils

Summative tests
The tests reflect the target language of the course
and the types of activities that the pupils usually do.
You will find the transcripts, marking scheme and
answers to all activities in the pages that follow.

Self-evaluation for the pupils

Self-evaluation pages (Activity Book)
Lesson 9 of each unit gently introduces the pupils to
the concept of self-evaluation – a key part of the
learning process. It is important that the children
realize that when they are evaluating themselves,
you are not testing them. In these lessons, the
children review the unit and remember what they
have learnt. Later, they think about how hard they
have tried in that unit, how well they have worked,
how much they have learnt and what they have
enjoyed, etc. To finish, they colour the flag that they
think best reflects their effort throughout that unit. In
this way they are able to keep a record of their own
progress.

Last summer my family went on holiday to Scotland. We went
camping near an old castle. People say there’s a ghost in the
castle. I wanted to see the ghost. I visited the castle every
evening. I saw some tourists and I saw some bats. I saw a black
cat, but I didn’t see a ghost.

It was the last day of the holiday. I wanted to watch the castle all
night. I went to the castle. I had my digital camera with me.
I waited and waited. Suddenly I saw the ghost! Then it disappeared.
I wasn’t scared, I was excited. I ran to the campsite. I told my mum
about the ghost. “Did you take a photo?”, she asked. “No,
I didn’t,” I said. “I think it was your imagination,” she said.

Hi Tom!
Have you got any plans for the summer?
I’m going to go to a hotel in Spain with my family. There’s a beach and there are lots of
watersports. Brilliant! I’m going to go sailing and I’m going to learn to scuba dive. My
brother Rick doesn’t like watersports. But he’s really happy because there’s a Kids Club.
He’s going to learn to juggle and to do card tricks. Mum’s going to have a great time too.
There are some caves in the cliffs. She’s going to explore the caves. She thinks she’s going
to find some pirate treasure! What’s Dad going to do? Read and sleep! He’s got about 25
books. He’s going to go to the pool, read his books and sleep in the sun. Boring!

lessons are fun. Charlie wants to be a scientist or a doctor. He always
does his Science homework and he thinks it is easy. He sometimes does
experiments at home. Last week he planted some seeds. He waters the
seeds every day. He’s waiting for them to grow.

He didn’t go to school yesterday. His class went to London. They

visited the Science Museum. In the morning they saw some dinosaur
skeletons. They had lunch at the museum. Jake had a burger and a
milkshake. In the afternoon they met a famous scientist. Her name
was Jane Goodall. When she was young she lived in Africa and
studied chimpanzees. She was very interesting. Charlie took a photo
of Jane with his mobile phone. He had a great day.
