1. Who do you think are the characters in the poem?

The poem used the words "dude", "man", and "pare", which indicate that the characters are male
individuals.

2. Using the urban dictionary, define -"COÑO".

In Filipino slang, it means someone who speaks bilingual - English and Filipino. One who combines two
languages in at least a single sentence. In Filipino perspective, one is a "coño" when Filipino words are
being used and pronounced like American English

3. What do these characters talk about

It's part of their daily conversations as "coños". Things that they are bragging about, asking questions to
a fellow coño and telling their opinions.

4. Is there a story that you can derive from the poem?

Yes, there is. It is about some Filipino college students and their modem way of conversation. From the
lines 2 to 4. we can infer that the characters are talking about someone or some people:

In the poem, the characters talk about how people can he the same but also fake/pretentious. They also
mentioned how their accent make them appear or weigh something to other people only to really mean
nothing as it were just "all airs".

5. What are some events or situations mentioned in the poem?

• Being in a situation which makes you confused

• How people can be the same but also pretentious


• Looking back to where they came from

 Finding someone as a connection" or a guide.

• Making a settlement about something

Paolo Manalo used Taglish, a mix of two different languages, the Tagalog and English languages

7. Have you tried using the same language while talking to friends or other family members?

Sometimes when we are having fun with our cousins or relatives. We use this type of language to create
jokes or a funny conversation.

8. Can you easily understand the meaning of the lines from the poem based on the language used?

Some of the lines are easy to understand. But it is hard to decipher what the meaning is. With the
language used, it allows readers to generate many interpretations. Even with how unpredictable the
piece is, it lets the readers think creatively,

9. Who do you think are the types of individuals that use these kind of language?

Typically these types of individuals are usually those who have fussy personalities especially those
finicky women.
