Ans. (i) Inspection and Supervising Committee: Preparation of field, venue selection, lighting, accommodation,
sanitation.
(ii) Publicity Committee: Advertise, schedule and air sports events.

parts, execute, conduct rehearsal, make sure no obstruction comes during event.

Ans. A planned series of matches scheduled among teams or players within certain framework of rules and regulations
for supremacy is called tournament.
(i) Knockout Tournament: In this, the team which loses will exit from the tournament, i.e., no second
chance is available.
(ii) League Tournament: In this type of tournament, each player/team gets a chance to play against all other
teams at least once or twice.
(iii) Combination Tournament: Combination tournaments are combinations of knockout and league
tournaments. They are vital in a situation of larger scale where matches are played on zonal basis.

Ans. (i) Development of sports skills: In any game, one has to require certain skills which need to be polished.
It also helps to develop tactical skills and improve the game.
(ii) Helpful in selection of players: On the basis of performance in a tournament, the selectors get a chance
to choose talented players.
(iii) Helpful in developing harmony and leadership: Many countries and states share friendship and harmony
during competitions. This helps to build person to person contact and sharing of cultural values.
(iv) Helps in developing social qualities: Participation in tournaments helps to build up social traits like
group cohesion, discipline, empathy, brotherhood, etc.
(v) Source of healthy recreation: Spectators have recreation and healthy fun while watching tournaments.
It helps to get rid of boredom and reduce stress for spectators.
