Ans. Combination Tournaments are combinations of knockout and league tournaments. They are vital in a situation
of larger scale where matches are played on zonal basis.
(i) Knockout-cum-League: In this, firstly, all teams are divided into different groups respectively. Then, all
teams play on a knockout basis in their respective groups. When each group gets a winner team, they play
with each other on league basis.
(ii) League-cum-Knockout: In this format, all teams are divided into different zones in which they play on
league basis. After getting winners from each zone, they play with each other on knockout basis.
Q. 2. What do you understand by league competition? Explain their advantages and disadvantages.
Ans. In this type of tournament, each player/team gets a chance to play against all other teams at least once or twice.

Ans. Cyclic method is used for both single league or double league.
One team will be fixed while other teams will rotate in cyclic way.
If N is an even number, then rounds would be N – 1.

● Other teams are placed in consecutive order downwards and then upward in the left side.
● The teams are place in clockwise order.
If N is an odd number, then rounds would be N.
