but does not meet all criteria, you may be required to recomplete the work. In this case you will not be eligible for a

You are to research ONE of the following geographical landscapes: Or one agreed upon by your teacher.
• Mountain ranges – The Himalayas, Nepal OR The Great Dividing Range, Australia
• Rainforests – The Amazon, Brazil OR the Daintree Rainforest, Australia
• Deserts – The Grand Canyon, United States OR Cappadocia, Turkey
• Caves – Waitomo Glow worm Caves, New Zealand OR Jenolan Caves, Australia

For the landscape you have chosen, you are to investigate and report on the following: (use the following
points as sub-headings)

CONTENT:
1. The location and characteristics of the landscape: 10 marks
a. Where is it? Absolute (include the co-ordinates) and relative location (how far is it to
Marymede Catholic College) and (2)
b. Identify the natural and human characteristics found at your location? (4)
c. Describe the topography of your chosen landform and include a topographic map ensuring it
has all mapping conventions. (4)

2. Explain the geographical processes involved in its creation: 5 marks


a. Explain the geographical processes that created and have potentially changed your landform.

3. Discuss the ways in which humans interact with the landscape: 12 marks
a. Describe the Social, Economic, and Environmental interactions that affect your chosen
landscape. They can be positive or negative and/or short or long term.

4. Evaluate the effectiveness of a response(s) (something that a group or individual is doing) in


preserving and or protecting the landscape: 20 marks

b. What is being done to protect the area and why? (Naming and explaining what the response
actually is, who is involved and what it does) (3)
c. Include a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) Analysis of the

Your presentation must include a bibliography in APA format of at least 6
sources (2 marks)
All presentations must include a range of geographical information to support your presentation. The
geographical information that you should look to use include maps, statistics, tables, graphs, diagrams,
pictures and/or videos. These should support the information you already have, not replace information,
they must be included and referred to in the body of your work.
