CHAPTER FIVE: CONCLUSION AND RECCOMMANDATION

5.1 CHAPTER ONE:

This chapter is all about the introduction of URCS its objectives, goals, vision and the methods used to
obtain the data and presentation. The URCS started in 1859 as a result of war which was between
Austria and France at the point known as Selferino where the war had lasted for 16 hours but very many
people were killed. When Henry Dunant who was a banker by profession and business man by
occupation saw this, the documented a book known as ‘’ the memory of Selferino’’ where the document
three ideas and one of them was formation of impartial volunteer relief societies in all countries that
would help the people in times of war.

And in chapter two there is presentation and analyze of the field work activities. We were able to
participate in different activities such as blood donation, resource mobilization, first aid training,
membership recruitment, dissemination session and training, orientation and road safety.

In chapter three are challenges of the organization and also the challenges that I faced during my field
work activities for example weather changes, hunger. High expectation from the community members,
limited facilities, language barrier, the covid 19 pandemic in the country, ignorance from the community
members and limited time availability. The challenges of the organization; limited funding, limited time
availability, limited staff member’s inadequate facilities to use at the organization.

Chapter four talk about summary of salient issues in every chapter, conclusion of my study and the
recommendation or the practical way forward for the organization in relation to my findings.

5.2 Conclusion
Despite a few challenges and problems, this training has contributed a lot to me both
professionally and socially, my analytical skills have improved and communication with other stake
holders. Internship has been very beneficial in helping me not only put theory in to practice but also get
to develop new and professional skills. I find it so important to extend my sincere thanks to Uganda Red
Cross Society Kampala North for giving me the opportunity to train with them. My training with URCS
was successful and I believe that I now have the potential and capacity to perform tasks related to my
field.

AS a student of development studies, I gained a lot of experience and skills, time management,
interpersonal relations, report writing, management and conduct.
