Evidence: Speak your mind

1. A political system is optimal not because it produces the policies that you
prefer. It produces the policies that much smarter people prefer. DISAGREE

A political system is used for the common good, and was essentially created for justice
and equality. So, for instance, if we put a side all of the above and create cognitive
inequality our political system would not be morally correct, therefore there would be no
democracy and no optimal political system.

2. The ideal system depends on the cultural attributes of the population. AGREE

One thing that makes us unique is our culture, therefore it is extremely important that our
differences and unique needs coming from our cultures are valued and taken into account
in a fair system.

3. Individuals should be admitted to schools and hired for jobs based on their
ability. AGREE

As I said before, each individual is unique. They all have different abilities regarding tastes,
talents or all of the above. In an inclusive environment it is crucial that all skills are
supported in a nurturing setting. So, based on my opinion and scientific research it is
extremely important to include all type of abilities in schools and work places,

4. Unlike the private sector, the government is motivated by public interest. AGREE

Of course it is, there is no doubt about that. “The public interest theory is part of welfare
economics and emphasizes that regulation should maximize social welfare...” 1 Which is
needed to be the interest in a functional healthy society, and that’s why the government
is motivated by the Public Interest.

5. Taxes allow the government to create jobs and provide welfare programs for
people in need. AGREE

The tax money collected is used to pay for services provided by the government at the
federal, state, and local levels. These commodities are sometimes referred to as public
goods, or those that benefit the majority of people. Transportation, education, and health
care are a few examples. So, in general and referring back to the affirmation, that is what
taxes are for.

6. Governmental programs encourage people to become dependent and lazy

instead of inspiring them to become hard-working and independent. SOMEWHAT
DISAGREE

I can´t say that I entirely disagree with this affirmation, since welfare dependency is
something recurrent. But, it is the government’s responsibility to distribute correctly all
these programs.
