VpCI®-337 is a ready to use, water based product for multi-metal protection of interior void

spaces. VpCI®-337 is most effective when fogged into enclosures.

Fogging Definition: fogging is the action of spraying a liquid as a light mist so the small particles suspend in the air
and diffuse through void airspaces such as tanks or piping systems.

I. Required Surface Preparation

The sur face being coated should be prepared to the following specifications:

SSPC-SP-1

This specification calls for a sur face clean of grease, oil, corrosion, and foreign matters (dirt, dust, mill scale, etc.).
The sur face must also be completely dr y. Please consult your Cortec® representative for appropriate cleaning products.

II. Setup
1. Ensure VpCI®-337 is mixed thoroughly prior to use.

2. Test the spray equipment to ensure that the VpCI®-337 is becoming fully suspended in the air.
a. The ground under the spray should not quickly cover with liquid as this would indicate the particles
are too large.
b. If this occurs, modify the settings on the spray equipment until proper spray of the chemical is achieved or
change equipment.

3. When fogging pipes or other internal spaces, cover all but two openings.
a. Often it is recommended to fog from a low end port and to exhaust out of the opposite side at a port on the
top of the equipment or vise versa.
b. Be sure to seal all other openings to achieve full flow of VpCI®-337 fog.
c. CorrCaps, PipeCaps or MilCorr can all be used to seal openings to provide superior corrosion protection.

III. Application
1. Begin fogging the enclosure.
a. For fogging internal voids, recommended application rate is ~1 ounce/ft3 (0.9 liter/m3) of void space.

2. Spray VpCI®-337 until product begins to mist or fog out of the second opening.

3. Cover the exhaust port and continue to fog the inlet port until recommended dosage of 1 ounce per
cubic foot is achieved.

4. For complex piping systems it may be necessary to fog one section at a time to ensure all areas of pipe receive
inhibitor fog. Additionally, a vacuum pump or fan could be situated at the exhaust port to help the fog travel through
the system.
a. The VpCI®-337 vapors can travel as much as 100 feet through piping including bends and turns so this is not
required in most systems.

5. Once recommended dosage is reached, seal the inlet port.

a. A small vent can be left open in the system to relieve pressure, but minimize the size of the vent to prevent loss of
corrosion inhibitor from the system.

6. Protection can last up to 2 years. Avoid water ingress through seals or vents.
7. If corrosion protection is desired for longer then two years, corrosion coupons are recommended to be installed at
the entry port.
•Inspect the coupons every 1-2 years for corrosion, re-dose with VpCI®-337 as needed.

IV. Recommended Spray Equipment

The following information is based on spraying VpCI®-337.

The following equipment is recommended for application to achieve quality results:

Conventional Spray Equipment:

Manufacturer Gun Model
Graco Delta Spray or LT series
Graco Finex, Part # 289258

Fogging of VpCI®-337 into small diameter pipes; Milcorr® VpCI®-337 being fogged into a large enclosure. Customized
caps are being used to seal pipe openings. spray equipment is being used which allows for the spray
gun to be inserted into the enclosure and left until recom-
mended dosage is achieved without an operator holding
down the spray trigger.
