About Me

When I was younger, I had a lot of inspirational teachers and experiences that helped

me learn and grow. However, it wasn’t until I became older that I developed the desire

to teach personally.

A lot of my parents’ friends were teachers so growing up I came to view teachers

as friends and there to help me which left a positive effect on me. I’m very grateful for

their examples but I’m especially grateful to my English teacher from Junior year who

helped me develop a love of reading and helping other students. Part of the reason why

I’m excited to get into the teaching field (especially in regards to secondary education) is

because I think I can help out kids who are struggling in varying aspects of learning. I

want to help kids develop a love of learning and discovering new things, or even making

it themselves.

One of my goals is to eventually become a teacher in the Netherlands for a time

period as I speak Dutch fluently and English teachers are always needed in foreign

countries but most notably if they’re native speakers. When I originally started school

towards a degree I was a welding major due to my time in the Air Force learning how to

weld. After doing it for a time period I came to the conclusion that in place of that I’d

rather become a teacher and be put into a position to help new students and touch their

lives in a way that I’d be able to. I’m excited to find out which way I’d be able to teach

most effectively but I know that doing so will also involve me teaching whichever way is

most appropriate for my students.
