Q1: How does diabetes affect people's lives?

Diabetes that may affect your quality of life include: The never-ending demands of diabetes

care, such as eating carefully, exercising, monitoring blood glucose, and scheduling and

planning. Symptoms of low or very high blood glucose. Fears about or the reality of

complications.

Q2: Why is type 1 diabetes a more serious form of diabetes?

A person with type 1 diabetes had an average life of expectancy about 66 years. This is due

to different complications in type 1 diabetes such as heart disease or kidney disease.

Q3: Why do diabetics go blind?

It's caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye

(retina). At first, diabetic retinopathy may cause no symptoms or only mild vision problems.

Eventually, it can cause blindness.

Q4: How does the process of treating a diabetic person done?

Insulin remains the mainstay of treatment for patients with type 1 diabetes. Insulin is also

important therapy for type 2 diabetes when blood glucose levels cannot be controlled by diet,

weight loss, exercise, and oral medications.

Q5: How do we prevent type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

Diabetes prevention is as basic as eating more healthfully, becoming more physically

active and losing a few extra pounds. It's never too late to start. Making a few simple

changes in your lifestyle now may help you avoid the serious health complications of

diabetes in the future, such as nerve, kidney and heart damage.
