Fr. Larry Ferguson’s Celebration of Life and Ministry

Saturday, September 11
1:00 pm
St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Hood River
The Rt. Rev. Diana Akiyama, Bishop of Oregon,
Officiating

Larry served our diocese for 62 years, and formed many, many
overlapping circles of community that spanned the state. It's terribly
difficult even in normal circumstances to try to accommodate the needs for
all involved when planning a memorial service, and even more so given
Larry's huge span of influence. Bishop Akiyama is a lifelong friend of the
Ferguson family, having grown up in Hood River and attended St.
Mark's. Fr. Larry and the community of St. Mark's sponsored her for
seminary and later ordination.
The service will be carried on Facebook Live:

On Sunday, August 29, sixteen years after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf
Coast, Hurricane Ida made landfall in the same region. This Category 4
storm brought flooding and damaging winds that caused a loss of water
to hundreds of thousands and a loss of electricity to over 1 million
people. Episcopal Relief & Development is working closely with the
Diocese of Louisiana and other regional partners in what will be a long-
term response. Your generous gift will help alleviate suffering for the
most vulnerable residents impacted by Hurricane Ida. Please
visit episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief to make a gift today.
The 2021 Columbia Gorge Hunger Walk will not be held in person due to
the continuing pandemic. However we can still support CROP Walk for Hunger
with our donations. The target date for our C.G. Walk is on the calendar
for September 18, but people can participate at any time between now and
September 30, 2021. I hope that our St. Mark’s congregation will continue in
their generosity.

Some ways to support our Walk are as follows------

* Sign up as an individual or family and "virtually" walk for CROP---and
raise funds for CROP Walk online. Register as a walker at
www.crophungerwalk.org/hoodriveror.

* Make a donation directly to CROP Walk on the online-giving

page. Funds given this way would be credited to the community and
the local agencies (FISH Food Bank and WGAP) would receive 25%.
The online page address is: www.crophungerwalk.org/hoodriveror.

* You can mail checks directly to CWS:

Church World Service
P.O. Box 968
Elkhart, IN 46515.
Please indicate "Columbia Gorge CROP Walk in the memo.

* If you prefer, checks may also be mailed to:

Columbia Gorge CROP Walk
c/o Hood River Valley Christian Church
975 Indian Creek Road
Hood River, OR 97031.

* Or you may wish to write a check to Church World Service with

Columbia Gorge CROP Walk in the memo and give it to me. I will see that the
right people receive them.

Thank you, faithful friends, for your dedication to and support for CROP Hunger
Walks and for your continued support of our local food banks.

With gratitude,
Lois Butler
