1st Trimester Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy Medical Management and Nursing Intervention

Vomiting  For morning nausea, eat toast, cereal, crackers, or other dry
foods before getting out of bed.
 Eat cheese, lean meat, or other high-protein snack
before bedtime.
 Sip fluids, such as clear fruit juices, water, or ice chips,
throughout day. Don’t drink lots of fluid at one time.
 Eat small meals or snacks every two to three hours instead
of three large meals per day.
 Don’t eat fried, greasy, or spicy foods.
 Avoid foods with strong odors that are bothersome. Or eat
foods cold or at room temperature.

Constipation  Consuming a high fiber diet of 25 to 30 grams per day


of dietary fiber
 Eating several smaller meals
 Drinking plenty of fluids
 Exercising regularly
 Over-the-counter remedies
 Probiotics
 Reducing or eliminating iron supplements

Haemorrhoids  Daily bowel evacuation to prevent constipation,


 Drinking adequate fluid
 Eating adequate fiber, and
 Resting in a modified Sims position are all helpful
measures to both prevent these and relieve pain
 Knee- chest position for 10 to 15 minutes is an excellent
way to reduce the pressure on rectal veins
 Docusate sodium (Colace)- Stool softener
 Hydrocortisone-pramoxine (Proctofoam-HC)
