BWBB1013 Foundations of Banking

Requirements for submission: GROUP ASSIGNMENT

Phase 1(Group Assignment)

1.0 Objective

Each student is required to form a group comprising 2 students, as a

partial fulfillment (30%) of the course grade. This exercise aims at:

a) strengthening the student's understanding of topics covered in the

course work,
b) enriching their soft skills (social skills, information management,
writing, communication & presentation).

2.0 Topic and Content

2.1For Assignment 1 (20%), each group will choose any topic

from the list:
i. Future Banking, a Way Forward
ii. Malaysian Banking: Issues and Challenges

3.0 Report Format

3.1The report must be typed-written using a word processor such

as Word or other similar versions with font size 12, Times New
Roman and double-spacing on one side of the page only.

3.2The length of the report should not exceed 30 pages.

3.3All tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.

4.0 Date of Submission

 Tentative dates of submission are on 30 September 2021. Extension
of deadline can only be granted within reasonable grounds.

Assignment 2 (10%)

How Do Banks Make Money?

1.1Overview of bank balance sheet

1.2Income-generating process in banking
1.3Interest income, fee, commission, profit, and charges.
1.4Sources of income
1.5Basic concept of profitability – net interest margin (NIM), Return
on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE).

Submission date is on 14 October 2021

(Phase 2: Presentation 20%)

Students are required to present in class creatively by using PowToon

or other apps / Videos based on the topic selected for group
assignment.
