EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I. Introduction

We depart at Universal College of Parañaque and headed to Bicol

and finally arrived and accommodated by the Rex Tourist Inn at Caramoan Island
in Bicol. Even though it was a long trip it was worth it so we went super excite
because first time to tour and go bicol.
We got to the naga here we eat breakfast and then after that we
went to the caramoan rex tourist inn resort and stayed there after we had eaten
luch first before the island hopping. But before it all happened we didn't get to the
road easily because the road to caramoan was zigzag very scary but we were
safe.
Afterall the nervous, tiredness and dizziness during the departure,
became worth of seeing and visiting different islands there. Our first destination
was the Matukad Island according to our bangkero the word "Matukad" came
from the root word "mataas" in English: high , steep. It is known because of the
high peaked rock formations in the island. Island of Cagbalinad Island we didn't
go down so we just stayed in the boat and we took pictures because there were
so many people and the island was so small. but the island is so beautiful that
the water is clear and the mountains look amazing. Island of Cotivas which has a
similar to a dessert of fine white sandbars, Bag-ing beach, Sabitang Laya Island
and the Manlawi Sandbar. We also visited the brgy Guinahoan Island which
means gawaan ng bata.
This Bicolandia Tour so much fun to lose tired and stress especially
when you see the island so nice and so clean. What a wonderful creation God
has made for us to care for the way it is so amazing because the scenery is so
amazing and its so good to come back to. And I know a lot about the stories on
the island and the people in the island enjoy it because they are especially
respectful of the kids who took us for a nice photo shoot. And they know how to
take care of the island because it's so clean and you can't see floating plastic so
much fun island hopping

II. Objective of the Tour

Reinforcement

A week before our tour the students, tour organizer and faculties had
meeting for us to be informed about our tour. They had everything organized to
make sure for us to be safe on our trip and gave clear instructions and helped us
avoid the possible risks. Teaching the students to be responsible with their
actions is one, they gave us a challenge by simply collecting our trash and put it
in a trash bag to also help other places’ environment. As a tourist we have to
have a care for our environment especially when you love to travel we should
always give respect to the places we go we have to love them even if it’s not our
place.

In Bicol, the places there are absolutely beautiful because they are away
from pollution and in danger. They eat fresh vegetables and seafood, they live in
a healthy environment. As a student specially a human being, I learn a lot of
things in Bicol, I have learned that even in their simple life there, they are thankful
of being blessed because they have those natural resources that they can use to
be able to live and have simple business. The signal there was very weak and
yet I realized that you don’t need gadgets if you have that kind of places to visit
and explore yourself and you’ll already be satisfied with those natural resources
that they have it’s just so beautiful.

Engagement

In Caramoan Island in Bicol, people there are so nice of being hospitable

and responsible in terms of taking care of their place or their island. they showed
here how responsible they are to take care of the caramoan island so beautiful
you can still see the water is super clean and the scenery is still beautiful.

5
This Bicolandia tour became a good practice for us students and this will
definitely be a lesson to learn for us all.

Socialization

The Bicolandia Tour helped us enhance our ability to socialize with other
in a good and proper way. We should always remember that things are not
always to travel and discover things, but also to have this ability of socializing
with a good manner. We should learn how to respect people and their place the
way they do to us tourist.

One thing that soften my heart was to really see somehow on how people
there have a brave heart. No matter how hard their situation is they still manage
to move forward, the ups and downs in love didn’t matter to them you can see
them showing braveness and how can they be the happiest they have ever been.

New Insights

Visiting the province of Bicol was my first time. From what I’ve observed it’s
not just the 12hrs of trip is challenging but also the way/the road going there most
of it is really dangerous. Most of it have hollow in the ground that makes a rough
road and that makes you having a bumpy ride. You can really say that there are
a lot of risks in the place.

But after the long ride, I know it’s worth it. The islands were really wonderful
and so beautiful to look at. Well I just hope that they’d do something about the
roads that they have if they would want to keep everyone that visits their place
and arrive there safely.

Bonding

It was a great experience when I was island hopping especially with the
whole CIHTM so it was fun to hear the whole CIHTM fam department. This tour
builds a happy and big family, this also builds a team. the Bicolandia is so
memorable because it's my first time doing island hopping and I'm so happy to
see the whole CIHTM fam enjoying it.

6
The team building activity that we did at the island of Sabitang Laya was
one of the activity that made everyone to build trust and a team. On the two
activities that we did, our team won. That activity is a good experiences to us
because it teaches us a lot.

Real-world experience

I am happy to realize that school is far different from the real world. I am
glad that the department organize this tour for us to experience and discover
things outside the school. It made us to show off the knowledge we have and
enhance our different abilities. From this, we experience real life activities and
learn things from those. There might be some risks that can possibly happen but
then, we don’t forget to be careful and apply the things we learn on how to avoid
those risks.

I am thankful that we became professionals in our field because we have

another knowledge and learnings to use in our chosen industry someday.

Fun

This isn’t just about for educational purposes but for each and everyone of us
to have fun. Having fun is not bad after all not unless if you know you’re having
fun but you’re not doing the right thing. Even when having fun you should know
your limitations, you should know what is right and wrong.

This tour was really fun, each and everyone of us really enjoyed the trip. We
shared everything, we laughed, we all learn new things together, explore
together, discover new things together.

III. Significance of the Tour

This tour provided valuable educational and opportunity to learn,

experience. Its main purpose to let us experience actual activities to be able to
enhance and skills, knowledge and ideas. This tour is really important for us
students to broaden our mind in terms of tourism and how risk management is

7
really important and its relevant daily activities in life. This tour aims to help
student to explore, gain knowledge and understand more about the real world
experiences.

IV. Identify the Risk you saw before leaving UC, while traveling going to
Ilocos, Hotel risk, and risk during tour to the different destinations.

Some of risks before, during and after the tour was identified as the:
1. There is no proper handle if you stand up inside the bus. You are possible to
out of balance or slide.
2. The Comfort Room inside the bus is not clean and stinky. It can spread virus
or bacteria.
3. There no proper seating arrangement. One student can be miss out.
4. The overhead compartment inside the bus has no lock. The things that is
placed there will fall.
5. The road along the way going to Caramoan Island is not safe, most of the road
has no barriers and sign boards.
6. The resort of the Rex Tourist in is prone to landslide
7. The boat is so fast passing by, the person who is riding can fall if not holding
on tight.
8. Some of the vest that we are using was too old the ties is already frangible and
easy to break.
9. Some of the boat is not in the good condition some are not balanced. It can
cause the boat to sink.
10. Food, drinks that has been spread to the floor of the bus. Can cause
someone to slip down.

V. The Educational Tour: A Narrative

Universal College of Paranaque. Before we depart at Universal College, all the
faculties and tour organizers organize everything for the smooth flow of the tour.

December 12, 2019 (day 2)

This is the 1st day of our island hopping we arrive at the Naga City and
take our breakfast there. After eating breakfast, we finally head the way going to

8
the Caramoan Island where we are going accommodate. We finally arrive at the
Rex Tourist Inn in the afternoon and finally take our lunch. After we take our
lunch, we prepare for island hopping. We visit first the Matukad Island according
to our bangkero the word "Matukad" came from the root word "mataas" in
English: high , steep. It is known because of the high peaked rock formations in
the island. And the next is Cagbalinad Island we didn't go down so we just stayed
in the boat and we took pictures because there were so many people and the
island was so small. but the island is so beautiful that the water is clear and the
lights off.

December 13, 2019 (day 3)

This is the 2nd day of our island hopping where we visit 5 more islands in
Caramoan. The first one we visited this day was the Guinahoan Island where
there are a lot of children we take 45 minutes to see the beauty of this island.
Humans live in this area. And so many kids our bangkero, called a kids and they
guide us to get to the light house. And when we got the kids took us pictures and
they were very good at taking pictures. It was fun to think they were good at
taking pictures. By the way this light house that can be your photobomber when
taking selfies but its okey because this light house are so beautiful. But the best
part in Guinahoan is the view of the Pacific Ocean and Philippine Sea. During our
stay in Guinahoan, I also saw a whirlpool in the Philippine Sea for just a moment
while the waves were thrashing to every part of the gulf. The water’s color were a
combination of dark blue and clear blue-green. Truly a majestic view in our tour
in Caramoan. Another Island to visit was the Cotivas, Cotivas is similar to a
desert of fine white sand bar. I have enjoyed playing sand and taking pictures
here, it’s like I am in the paradise. The 3rd island was the Manlawi Sandbar, this
island is known for its vanishing sandbar, situated along the Shore of Lahuy
Island. I enjoy walking along the shore and see different kinds of star fish. The
4th one is the island of Bag-ing Beach where there are a tall rock formation and
perfect for taking pictures. Bag-ing is one of the twin beaches in Sabitang Laya

9
Island. It was also selected as a hidden venue for many of immunity and reward
challenges of the famous international reality game show, “survivor”. We also
have our lunch at the Island of Bugtong Island. The last island we visited was the
Sabitang Laya Island. This island is one of the popular island in Caramoan
Peninsula, its interesting limestone rock formation are one of the best features of
this island. This Island is also one of my unforgettable island where we held our
team building activity.

December 14, 2019 (day 4)

3rd day, we eat breakfast first and checked out to Rex Tourist Inn, and
time to go visit the Avenue Plaza Hotel at Naga City, we take our lunch there and
attend seminar where they discuss how to market a product and they also
discuss more about how to handle a business. In the afternoon we first visited
the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral, The Church is so nice and has its beautiful
dome inside. We also visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Penafrancia. After
visiting those cathedral, we proceed to the J. Emannuel Pastries to buy
Pasalubong.

December 15, 2019

4th day, we finally arrive at Universal College of Paranaque.

V. Discussion

I learned a lot and learned from island hopping not only in the history we
learned but also in people's behavior. I've seen how much they care about the
island and how much they care. when I saw the island clean, the water was clear
and almost everything was beautiful. I saw them with good manners especially in
Guinahoan where the children showed us good manners and I admired them so
much for taking pictures and responding and being respectful to the tourists. I
admire the people who are there because I have never seen floating rubbish so
clean and so good looking at the heart that there are people who care for our
islands and they never neglect it. So to God I am also grateful that he gave us a
beautiful island here in Caramoan. and hopefully people will not be able to take
care of the island.

10
VI. Conclusion

During this tour I learned a lot and discovered stories on the islands we
visited. You can really appreciate the beauty of the island. Those places become
meaningful to each and every one of us by knowing the story behind those
places. I found the island very nice and especially very clean and the people who
took care of that island very nice. Super memorable from my experience on
caramoan island. As the result we develop friendship, family and team that
teaches us to build one family.
