“Excellence in Waste Management & Sanitation Award 2021”

Background& Objectives
Uttarakhand Tourism is promoting responsible, ethical and sustainable tourism in Uttarakhand. This
year as part of the Swacchata Pakhwada events (from 16th - 30th September), Uttarakhand Tourism
would like to focus on best practices pertaining to Waste Management & Sanitation.Therefore
Uttarakhand Tourism has planned to:
1. Create awareness amongst homestay owners, hoteliers and local communities across the state
regarding best practices related to sanitation and solid waste disposal.
2. Felicitate and recognize Hotels/ Guest house, NGOs, Urban Local bodies, restaurants and home
stays for adopting best practices in Waste Management & Sanitation through its first edition of
‘Excellence in Waste Management & Sanitation award 2021.

Proposed Award Categories:

CATEGORY – 1 NGOs/ Organisation/ Individuals/ Start-ups
CATEGORY – 2 Hotels/ Guest house
CATEGORY – 3 Homestay
CATEGORY – 4 Restaurants
CATEGORY – 5 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)

Proposed Process:
1. Applicants can download the application form available on www.uttarakhandtourim.gov.in.
2. Duly filled application to be sent to the email ID - aduktourism@gmail.com. Alternatively
application can be sent via postal mail or physically delivered to the following address:

3. Last date to submit the application - 15th September 2021.
4. Proposed virtual presentation (with original documents) by short-listed applicants - 20th
September 2021.
5. Winners will be announced - 27th September 2021.

2. Secretary, Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Agency (UUSDA)
3. CEO, UTDB
4. Addl. Director, UTDB
5. Chairman, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Uttarakhand

Proposed Assessment Criteria:

1. Sanitation & Waste Management Resource(s) 2. Sanitation & Waste Management Strategies
3. Sustainable and innovative business model 4. Impact / Benefit

Proposed Terms of Conditions

A. Information supplied within or in relation to the application must be correct and complete. (Please
note that all personal or sensitive information will be treated as confidential.)
B. Incomplete application form will be rejected outright.
C. The “Excellence in Waste Management & Sanitation Award 2021” Grand Jury reserves the right
to request for further evidence.
D. If the applicant fails to share relevant documents to verify the written submission then the Grand
Jury reserves the right to reject the application. No correspondence will be entertained thereafter.
E. The decision of the members of Grand Jury would be final.
F. By applying to the Excellence in Waste Management & Sanitation Award 2021, the applicant is
agreeing to the above mentioned terms and conditions of entry.
