QUIZ # 1

If I were faced with this situation, especially a difficult one, I would first ponder on
the situation at hand. I have to decide whether to listen to my boss, who is the board
president, and my godfather. Or my senior manager, who seems to hold a grudge
against my boss’s daughter, because of her work performance in her past experiences
with the company. As HR Manager, I have to do my job in evaluating and screening of
applicants to determine if he or she is qualified for the position. Companies don't just
rehire employees especially those with bad records. So, it must be thoroughly analyzed.

If I can see, there are advantages and disadvantages to the occurring dilemma. If
I listen to my boss and exclude his daughter from the closing date of applications, I
would gain my boss's approval and I'm sure he would be ever grateful for me giving his
daughter a second chance. However, there would be trust issues when it comes to the
daughter's work ethic and performance. The senior manager will be disappointed and
will likely hold a grudge against me, too. Now, if I listen to my senior manager and will
not exclude the boss's daughter, the boss would not be fond of such an act. But I will be
able to spare the company from awful work performance and problems that the
daughter had done.My senior manager will likely thank me and gain his approval.

So it has come to my decision, that I will let my boss's daughter take the job once
again. Why? despite the boss's daughter's unpleasant reputation of having work
problems, she already has her experience of it and must have realized her mistakes
causing her to improve her job performance in the past years. She must have applied
because of her willingness to work once again and to do better. She deserves a second
chance to prove herself.
