Organizational Behaviour

Organizational Behaviour is the study of human behaviour in organizational settings, the


interface between human behaviour and the organization, and the organization itself.
Organizational behaviour is the study of how people behave in organizational settings. Its
principles are applied with the goal of making organizations and the people in them work more
effectively together.

Individual Behaviour

Individual behaviour is the concrete action by a person that can be influenced by various
factors like person’s instincts, personality traits, internal feelings, socio-cultural factors,
organizational factors, environmental factors, motivation, perception, and abilities. Individual
behaviour is the result of interaction between individual characteristics and environmental
characteristics by which behaviour occurs. Behaviour as an input-output system, human
behaviour is influenced by both internal and external factor. It is also considered as system
consisting of input-process and output. 

Group Behaviour

A group can be defined as two or more interacting and interdependent individuals who
come together to achieve particular objectives. Group behaviour can be stated as a course of
action a group takes as a family. Group behaviour is a group refers to the association of two or
more persons interacting among themselves for the achievement of common goal, two or more
individuals, interacting and interdependent, who have come together to achieve particular
objectives.

Organizational Structure

Organizational structure is how people grouped in organization and their responsibilities


in organization. An organizational structure is a system that outlines how certain activities are
directed in order to achieve the goals of an organization. These activities can include rules, roles,
and responsibilities. The organizational structure also determines how information flows
between levels within the company. 
Organizational Processes

Organizational processes are defined in terms of a set of outcomes, the generic activities
and tasks needed to achieve the outcomes. Organizational process involves determining what
work is needed to accomplish the goal, assigning those tasks to individuals, and arranging those
individuals in a decision‐making framework (organizational structure). Organizational processes
are had five steps including review plan and objectives, determine the work activities necessary
to accomplish objectives, classify and group the necessary work activities into manageable units,
assign activities and delegate authority and design a hierarchy of relationships.

FILIPINOS STRENGTHS/POSITIVE ATTITUDES

Hospitality

Filipinos are known for being hospitable to other people like tourists and travellers.
Filipinos offer comfortable homes for tourists who need a place to stay for a while. Filipinos are
always welcome guests and foreigners with their smile. They feel the pleasant environment to
other people.

Optimism

Filipinos are also known as “matatag ang loob” despite of having difficulties in life,
calamities, and tragedies. Filipinos have positive minds in every situation they faced. The
Filipino’s sense of humor is shown in his ability to laugh even at the worst circumstances.

Respect for elders

Filipinos are being respectful to other people especially their elders. One of the Filipinos
practices is saying “po at opo” and “pagmamano” to their elders. Filipinos are being humble and
gentleman to other people. Filipinos also show respect at work by making a bow to their
employers.

Generosity and Helpfulness

The word “Pakikiramay” or Filipinos ability to emphatize with others, intimating


helpfulness and generosity in times of need. Filipinos didn’t choose who they will help. They
help and give assistance to other people in times of calamities, tragedy and other circumstances.
In every occasion like fiesta, birthday party, weddings and christening, they offer and invite the
guests to celebrate the occasion with them.

Strong Family Ties and Spirituality


Filipinos always go to church every Sunday with their family to praise the God. Filipinos
believe that God is the center of the family and having strong bonds. The Filipinos strong faith in
God gives him a strong moral conscience. Workers maintain their motivation to works by God’s
unending mercy. “Always family first”, Filipinos sacrifices themeselve in order to support and
sustain their family.

Hard work and Industry

Hard work or industry as a Filipino trait is considered superior to most nations. This is
not only proven by the Filipino’s willingness to take risks to work abroad but also by his
stubborn will and effort to survive in the most challenging times in abroad.

FILIPINOS WEAKNESSES/NEGATIVE ATTITUDES

Lack of discipline

Filipinos are lack of discipline sometimes, there’s a time where they break the rules like
proper waste management, traffic and etc. Filipinos have this penchant of disregarding the rules
in order to prioritize what they want. Filipinos are also having poor time management.

Filipino Time

Filipinos are known on its Filipino time attitudes because having improper time
management. They have a unique brand of time, which is known to be minutes or hours behind
the schedule or standard time. Many Filipinos make it habit.

Crab Mentality

Filipinos tend to possess this mentality especially when they feel insecure. In a way, crab
mentality also promotes an unhealthy competition. Instead of doing things that could help one to
develop and become better than his competitors, Filipinos devote so much of their time gossiping
and back-biting. It is their way of deviating people’s attention on their inadequacy by focusing
on other people’s faults.

“Bahala na” Attitude

Filipinos sometime are unproductive and lazy. They always rely in Divine providence or
leaving everything to the hands of fate. While this trait can sometimes be helpful in time of
adversity, the mentality of “what goes around, comes around,” can also keep us from finding
ways out of tough situations.
Procrastination or “Mañana Habit”

This habit of putting off what Filipinos can do at the moment until later indeed led to an
inefficient and wasteful system, violation of roles, leading to more serious wrongdoings, and a
casual work ethic to carelessness and lack of follow through. ilipinos are fond of saying “bukas
na lang” or  “sa susunod na lang” due to laziness. This arises from a slack mentality that a
problem will eventually go away by itself.

Colonial Mentality

This is made up of two dimensions: lack of patriotism, and an actual preference for
foreign things like fashion, entertainment, lifestyle, technology, consumer items, and so forth.
This is manifested by the Filipino’s penchant for buying imported goods instead of locally-made
goods.
