Mother Mary and Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo both lived a religious life.

They both
served the Lord and showed great values and virtues as they strived to fulfill the life missions
imposed to them by God. It was a life full of challenges and pain but was greatly rewarded in the
end. It really inspiring to know they stories and learn the goodness of our God through them.
In life of Mother Mary, in her time it was difficult to get pregnant before marriage or
without a husband. Before, they would stone you to death but God really knows everything and
help Mary through Joseph. Despite of the dangers that Mary knew she will faced she continued
to do the mission God have given her. It was really hard to see the child you raised and loved
sacrificed himself to fulfill God’s promise to save those who believed in His promises. She
endured the pain knowing that God has better plans. I would also want to emphasize the values
of Mother Mary showed us. She was a divinely pure and obedient to the call of the Lord. She
have lived in profound humility, even though she was chosen as a Mother of our God she didn’t
brag and call herself a queen of the world. All of us should have that qualities. But unfortunately
I could hardly see these qualities on younger generations now.
Mother Mary’s mission was not solely her being pregnant with God’s son but she was
also responsible to raise a child and loved him. From a perspective of a mother, you will do
everything that you can in order to protect your beloved child so it was hard for a mother to see
your child in a cross and dying in front of you but she trusted and pray to God because she
knew that a time will come that it will happen in God’s will.

Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo has inspired a lot of ladies to become brides if the
Lord. She lived as a daughter of a businessman, and her time native women in are not
recognize and didn’t have a power or rights. She didn’t show any love interest in any man, she
just want to pray and serve the Lord. At times of confusions, she would kneel pray to God and
ask Him his plans for her. And prayers is so powerful that it leads her to serving the Lord with all
her heart, even they only have to live in a small house with only a rice and salt to eat. It shows
the vitue that Mother Mary have, Humility and living the simple life and a deep devotion and faith
to our God. She lived a life full of challenges, there was a time that her faith and devotion was
challenge by the Society but she remain faithful and prayed to God during her hard time. She
passed before the constitution she wrote was recognized but her faith did not fail her, even after
the greatest trials the community of beatas she founded didn’t disappear even in the darkest
hour of the Philippine history.
Mother Ignacia’s mission was mainly to serve to God but through time, because of the
growing number of beatas she later realized what should she do regarding the situation so she
lead these women into creating a community of beatas for Native Filipina women with help of
Jesuits they are able to accommodate more women and teach children the word of God. Nine
years after the death Father Paul Klein, she was able to write the constitution that will guide the
next generations of beatas and it was also included women empowerment that states that
Filipina beatas should be recognized as part of a religious community. She stated a lot of right
and just regulation but was neglected by the Spanish Government. Even in her death she
wishes to the community to flourished and stand strong without her presence. Her death didn’t
stop the other beatas to fulfill their goal, it remain strong through the colonization of Americans
and the World War 2 up to these day. You realized how the word of God won’t leave and just
continues to guide us through the years and if God makes his way for you. He sees everything
and provides for you.
Both Mother Mary and Mother Ignacia, have lived a very religious and challenging life.
They are the one’s we should follow. In times of pandemic, we can only pray to God and ask for
His mercy on us. We should build a strong connection with God in this times. We must live in
humility and inspire other people to get closer to God. At the very least we should make it our
life mission to spread the word of our God.
