Newtonian Revolution

1. An intellectual revolution which change the society’s perspective about the motion of planets. It was
described by his three laws of motion and the universal gravitation.

2. Isaac Newton, he is a physicist and mathematician who developed the principles of modern physics,
including the laws of motion.

Newton made discoveries in optics, motion and mathematics. Newton theorized that white light was a
composite of all colors of the spectrum, and that light was composed of particles.

3. Impacts in Modern Science and Scientific Thinking:

 The creation of calculus and modern physics
 Through his formulas, ways were found to solve areas space occupied by anything placed along
a curved surface.
 It led to understanding how and why our solar system is moving in that manner. It somewhat
proved the heliocentric theory.

4. Controversies:
 Some scientists opposes his theory about his law of gravitation and understanding of planetary
motion.
 Calculus controversy
