MAPS ARE MADE TO HELP US

Maps are simple pictures of the world, a country or a city. They show us where
places are and how we can get from one point to another. Maps, in general, are
the result of deep research by navigators and people who know many places from
all over the world and can measure the shapes of land, the orientation of the rivers
and the location of the cities and towns.
Satellites are useful resources in order to get pictures from the outer space to
make maps more accurate and efficient.
Maps can be made to any scale. A scale is a smaller representation of the real size
of the map. Some scales can be 1: 1000; this means that one centimeter
represents 1,000 times the real features. We use scales to draw places smaller
than they really are but still show the location of places.
