Kirk Johansen Family Scholarship

Marshfield High School Class of 1967

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt attorney Kirk Johansen was named chair of the Board of
Directors for Friends of the Children Portland Chapter. Friends is a national non-profit
organization that has revolutionized mentoring to improve the lives of at-risk children.

Mr. Johansen devotes the majority of his law practice to clients in the forest products industry.
He served as a law clerk for Judge Alfred T. Goodwin on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
(1974-1975). He has traveled to Japan numerous times on log and lumber business and has
toured Chile's forest products industry in conjunction with a client's proposed timberland
investment.

He served a term on the Advisory Council to the Portland State University College of Urban
and Public Affairs and served as the President of the University Club Foundation, which grants
annual scholarships to students in Oregon's four public universities having graduate programs.
He also served on the World Forestry Center Exhibit Committee. He is a member of the Board
of Trustees of the Central Oregon Community College Foundation.

The Johansen Family Scholarship was established to recognize students who plan to pursue an
education in the Voc/Tech field.
