You are on page 1of 15

Videoless steps(thanks OP, just not a fan of videos):

1. Turn on Developer Mode (Settings > About Watch >

Software > tap software version until you get the toast that
it's enabled)
2. Connections > Turn off Bluetooth > Turn on Wi-Fi (same as
phone's wifi)
3. Developer Option > Turn on "ADB Debugging" and
"Debugging over Wifi"
4. Go back to settings, and then go back into developer
options. you should see ip address and port under adb
debugging; save this for later
5. Download and Install Bugjaeger and Modified Samsung
Health Monitor for Phone
6. Download Watch 4 Samsung Health Monitor
7. Open Bugjaeger and select Allow if prompted.
8. In Bugjaeger, select the plug icon in the top right and enter
the ip address and port from step 4. you will be prompted to
connect or always allow devices; select always allow.
9. tap on the packages tab (download box with up arrow) first
10. Select the plus icon with a circle around it at the top of
Bugjaeger. Find the watch4shm apk you downloaded earlier
and you will see this app installed on your phone.
11. Go back to developer options and turn off adb debugging
and debugging over wifi (important, don't skip his)
12. Open Samsung Health Monitor on your phone and you're
good to set it up.
I can't install Watch 4 Samsung Health monitor. It says
package invalid. I installed Bugjaeger and modified health
monitor for phone. When I select the +with circle it just brings
up custom shell command.

my bad, you need to tap on the packages tab (download

box with up arrow) first

connected.

I tried to calibrate it but it's keep on saying cannot find

Probably not your area but when trying to install this from the
Bugjaeger app I get "No route to host" if I put in the IP address
.. any idea what would cause that? Should my watch be
pingable from my pc?

1 Reply Share
6. go back to Bugjager and change the ip.. then try to
connect again.

This worked for me.

On Bugjaeger, you hit on the plus and you enter the ip and
then hit connect, not search, if you're hitting that for the first
time, your watch will ask you if you want to allow incoming
connection, allow it, now on Bugjaeger on the list of
devices it should say connected, select the apk of the
watch (about 15MB file size) and it should stream install it
to the watch and show success...

Your phone and watch should be on the same network...

Ps. I made the mod but I also investigated different ways of

installing the watch4 app, I wrote the ADB instructions only
because I don't have the watch yet to tell all other
installation options, it wasn't easy but with members in my
Telegram group and their efforts to test on their watches
and the logs sent back to me, it was possible and
absolutely worth it, whenever I see a post without
Go back to developers mode make sure both ADB
debugging and ADB over Wi-Fi are enabled...

If those are enabled, reboot the watch and the

phone and try again, might be connection busy

between this mod and shm mod ?

Which method is better ?

They're both the same, both mine, I just happen to be of

those of unfortunate that pre-ordered and got delayed 😅...
so i wasn't able to make a proper tutorial, and that made
some people make their own based on my instructions

this same cat on the video did this for us on the watch 3 last year
then samsung pushed an update and broke this, so if you do use
this, dont update because its likely samsung already know this
loop and will close it in the next update. you will need a BP cuff to
calibrate this too.

5 Reply Share

camboteav OP · 3d

I know .already calibrated it at work..I'm a nurse.

Mine stopped working after an update and haven't been
bothered sideload it again.

The TGA in Australia have just approved it recently

though so it should start working once Samsung
pushes the update.

BigHeroBaymax · 3d

Oh so you have to input each time? It doesn't auto

sync to watch?

1 Reply Share

Sky_Lobster · 3d

Only on the side-loaded version. The official

version syncs automatically.

Does this affect any watch features? Warranty? I also really

wanted the blood pressure tracking!

No... All you are doing is replacing the shm app that is stock in
Samsung health monitor always synched to itself not to
Samsung health.

Why can't google upload this app on their play store with a sticker
stating NOT APPROVED BY FDA.

Atleast let people have little fun of getting BP i have gw3 and still
waiting for this app.

There are solutions for gw3 as well. So, if you really want to
enable this feature you can do this.

Ya no thank you. With all these Ransomwares and

control without it.

I agree, sucks though that it's not really Samsung's fault

other than not going through the hoops to get it
approved. Seems logical to just enable it with a
disclaimer like they already do for ECG.

I can not for the life of me figure out what to put in the bugjaegar
app for my ip address. Can anyone help?

1 Reply Share

Comp_uter15776 · 3d

Not familiar with bugjaegar, but when I followed the XDA

instructions my watch gave me an IP address (inline with the
option itself) shortly after enabling the Wi-Fi ADB mode in the
developer settings. I could then use that via the ADB
command line on my PC.

1 Reply Share

psyducktustin · 3d

Does it affect anything else? The other health tracking?

I can confirm this also works on the Canadian version as well. I
just haven't tried it yet because I don't have a need for it.

The hardware supports it, the software is the one that is blocking
this feature.

1 Reply Share

lylesback2 · 3d

I just did the sideload this morning, tried out the ECG and it
worked!

I haven't tested the blood pressure yet.

1 Reply Share

KiwiKeeper4 · 3d

This is awesome and I can take blood pressure in USA now.

Can't get it to sync to Samsung Health, though. In the new health
monitor app, when I click on "data" (which is where you connect
out to Samsung Health) it crashes the app. Anyone else have
this?

1 Reply Share

menos08642 · 3d

It won't sync to Samsung Health because the 'hacked' SHM

app has the new authors signing key and not Samsungs.

2 Reply Share
You have to re-calibrate it with a cuff every so often (30 days
IIRC.) It will force you to do this if you want to keep using BP
measurements.

As an aside I also had do to this side-load nonsense.

Does anyone know if you buy a UK watch and own a US galaxy

Just wondering how it takes BP with the sensors the watch has. If
it needs calibration then wouldn't it just be giving a guess based
off the cuff measurement and your heart rate?

No..it's not a continuous bp monitor..that is not possible

manually do it.

camboteav OP 2d

I deleted the old shm app on the phone and denied

permissions on the old watch app..if you don't you will
have 2 shm app icons and and drain more battery. Old
one just has ecg feature, new one has ecg and bp
feature. Once you get into the new app on the watch
and go to the bp section it will walk you through
calibrating it but you have to have a separate bp
machine to do it at the same time the watch is taking a
reading. Once it's calibrated and you take readings it
will sync to the new shm app not the old one.
